“What are we supposed to do now?”

George looked utterly flustered. He irritably scratched his head, his heart pounding with anxiety.

He knew that some problems could not possibly be solved in a hurry. To escape such danger completely, they would have to devote considerable thought and effort to it.

Chen Yi, meanwhile, cast his gaze over all the warriors around him.

“Kill every last one of them. There is no other way out. These creatures have no reason to exist. If you let even one escape, we will all die without a proper grave.”

With that, Chen Yi charged into battle first.

Hu Sanhan, unwilling to fall behind, led the others under his command in a furious assault.

George was about to join them when one of his subordinates hurriedly called out, “Boss, you can’t go! What will we do if something happens to you?”

George waved him off, determination gleaming in his eyes.

“You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll be fine. Some problems may indeed affect everything once one part is disturbed, but as long as we stand united from top to bottom, they won’t be insurmountable.”

His words were reasonable, yet the others remained uneasy. This was no trivial matter; the slightest mistake could leave them dead and dismembered.

George once again fixed them with a cold stare.

“What are you grown men shouting about? Don’t you know what you’re supposed to do? Let me make this clear: whether you want to go or not, you’re going. That’s a fact. How could I let you fool around here? If you won’t follow me into battle, what use are you?”

Seeing them lower their heads in silence, George tried once more to persuade them.

“You must understand that, in the apocalypse, our survival depends on the strong. If the strongest among us aren’t here to support us, how far can we get relying on our own abilities? You hear me? Go and do your duties properly.”

Just then, the man-eating beasts launched a widespread attack. Those who were too slow were slaughtered in an instant. George cut through the chaos with swift precision, pulling the uninjured members behind him.

A red zombie charged straight at George, a trace of mockery in its eyes.

“You?”

George froze in shock. He knew this zombie.

It had once been defeated by him, and he had crushed its skull at the time.

Now the red zombie laughed heartily, smugness spreading across its face.

“Well? Were you shocked to see me? Frightened? Then keep trembling for a while longer. If you remain afraid, you’ll soon lose all sense of self.”

“Keep dreaming.”

George stared coldly at the creature before him. Though anger still churned in his chest, he had at least managed to dispel some of the pressure weighing on him.

“I’m not afraid of you. I’m just puzzled. You were completely dead, so how did you come back to life?”

“That’s because I possess power.”

The red zombie gave another mysterious smile. The unwavering conviction in its eyes made George find the whole thing utterly incomprehensible.

“What kind of power could keep you going until now? I truly don’t understand.”

The red zombie showed no concern at George’s question.

“Human beings could never understand our secrets.”

“Then tell me.”

George continued to draw the zombie’s attention, but both hands had already settled on the guns at his waist. The zombie noticed the movement as well and shook its head with a mocking laugh.

“If you don’t trust us anymore, what is there left for you to hear? Brothers, attack!”

George immediately opened fire, but the red zombie’s body was far tougher than those of the others. The bullets could not penetrate it at all.

Seeing George struggling, Chen Yi called out to Hu Sanhan, “I’ll deal with the other monsters. Go help him.”

“Sun Dawei, go help the boss.”

After making the arrangements, Hu Sanhan quickly rushed to George’s side and helped him fight the zombies.

The red zombies began attacking with terrifying frenzy. It seemed they had all received the same order: fight until death, without retreat.

Chen Yi had noticed this earlier. He knew that the people manipulating events were still watching from behind the scenes, eager to stir up more trouble and bring disaster upon Chen Yi and his men.

But how could Chen Yi give them such an opportunity?

He looked firmly at everyone. “Although our opponents are powerful, they cannot hurt us as long as we stand together. Keep fighting!”

Encouraged by Chen Yi, many of the warriors regained their courage.

Once they had steadied themselves, the members of the squad sprang into action without hesitation, roaring as they charged into the zombie horde.

Some still tried to evade the enemy in fear, but most of them were holding their ground well.

Far away, Chu Yunxi and the others were also facing a new enemy.

The electric eels in the sea launched a frenzied assault on the great Kunpeng. The little Kunpeng had returned to its true form to help, but it was still unable to do much.

With no other choice, Chen Yaxi and Chu Yunxi could only attack together from the air. Working in concert with the great Kunpeng, they drove the electric eels onto the shore, then used the Heavenly Eye to expose their weaknesses and kill them.

They had barely finished dealing with the electric eels and begun to catch their breath when lightning flashed and thunder rolled across the sky once more.

“I wonder how things are going for Brother,” Chen Yaxi said anxiously. “If this continues, I’m afraid we won’t be able to hold out either.”

“Don’t lose heart.”

Chu Yunxi patted Chen Yaxi on the shoulder again, determination shining in her eyes.

“We will definitely win. We’re only missing the right opportunity.”

“What opportunity?”

Concern filled Chen Yaxi’s eyes. “I know you have a plan, Sister, but in our current situation…”

“Quiet.”

Chu Yunxi suddenly sensed that something was wrong in the surrounding area and immediately grew tense.

“Everyone, stay alert. I have a feeling something is approaching.”

The great Kunpeng realized that Chu Yunxi was right. It immediately began churning the water with its enormous body, creating huge waves. Sure enough, the force of the waves drove a seven-headed shark out into the open.

The shark looked ferocious and was clearly no benevolent creature.

“Everyone, prepare for battle.”

The great Kunpeng carried them away from the danger zone to a nearby small island, then brought them safely ashore.

“Defend this place. I’ll fight it!”

“Uncle Kunpeng!”

Chen Yaxi spoke up.

“Let my sister and me help you. My sister can attack now, and she can also see the enemy’s weaknesses. I can use the flying shuttle and my mental powers to disrupt it.”

The great Kunpeng readily agreed.

“Little one, I’ll leave the battle in the air to you and Sister-in-law Yunxi!”
