Chapter 113: Yan Chuan Protects His Nephew (2)
“Hmm?” King Muye’s eyes narrowed as he looked toward the nearby figure.
A middle-aged Taoist priest approached, carrying a long sword on his back and a gourd hanging from his waist, smiling as he came forward.
It was none other than Jiujian Sheng, who had taken away the disciples of the Great River Sect after Yan Chuan had reprimanded them.
“Jiujian Sheng? Is that you?” King Muye said coldly.
“Hahaha, Elder Muye, Master Yan Tao’s protection blesses the Great Yan Kingdom, just as my Great River Sect watches over it. Have you forgotten this, Elder Muye? This young one belongs to Yan Kingdom’s younger generation; you wouldn’t trouble him, would you?” Jiujian Sheng replied with a smile.
“What’s this? Jiujian Sheng, have you also taken a liking to this boy?” Muye asked sternly.
“Born with a sword bone, he is indeed suited to the path of sword cultivation. Naturally, I’m tempted, but I would never force him; it’s entirely voluntary!” Jiujian Sheng said with a laugh.
“Elder Jiujian Sheng, I appreciate your kindness, but I have already sworn allegiance to my master. I will not change my path!” Yan Wudi responded.
“That’s fine. Master Yan Tao was a prodigy, so it’s natural his disciples would be talented. It just means we’re not destined to cross paths. However, I once promised Master Yan Tao to protect the Yan Kingdom,” Jiujian Sheng said.
“Yan Tao is dead, and there’s no one from Yan Kingdom in the Great River Sect. Do you, Great River Sect, wish to make an enemy of me over an insignificant person?” King Muye said gravely.
“Not at all. But Elder Muye, you’re mistaken. Who said there’s no one from Yan Kingdom in the Great River Sect?” Jiujian Sheng smiled.
“Hmm?” King Muye’s eyes narrowed further.
“You mean Yan Chuan? The son of Yan Tao?” Liu Gang suddenly exclaimed.
“Oh? Hahaha, Yan Tao’s son? He’s only in his teens this year, right? So, he’s still alive?” King Muye laughed.
“Of course, I am still alive!” A voice suddenly echoed.
“King Muye is of the same generation as my father. I have admired him for a long time, but today he bullies the younger generation of the Yan family by relying on his cultivation level, which is not what the rumors say! Ha, I am Yan Chuan, and I am deeply disappointed!” The voice came from within the crowd.
“Hmm?” King Muye’s expression darkened as he turned his gaze.
Liu Gang, Jiujian Sheng, Yan Wudi, and all others looked toward the direction from which the voice came.
The crowd parted, and five people slowly stepped forward—Yan Chuan, Liu Jin, Mo Yuxi, Qinglong, and Baihu.
Seeing the five, King Muye’s eyes narrowed. Except for Yan Chuan and Liu Jin, he could not discern the cultivation levels of the others.
“Yan Chuan! It’s you!” Liu Gang’s eyes were filled with hatred.
“Isn’t this Officer Liu? Thanks again for last time—snake meat really does taste delicious!” Yan Chuan smiled as he stepped forward.
“You!” Liu Gang’s expression darkened.
“Junior Brother Yan Chuan! It’s good to see you again!” Jiujian Sheng greeted with a smile.
Yan Chuan looked at Jiujian Sheng, nodded, and said, “Thank you for making an enemy of King Muye for the sake of our Great Yan Kingdom this time.”
“Hahaha, I promised your father, so naturally, I will keep my word!” Jiujian Sheng laughed.
Yan Chuan nodded and then looked toward Yan Wudi and the three officers accompanying him.
“My lords!” the three officers hesitated before stepping forward.
“Hmm!” Yan Chuan smiled faintly and accepted their address.
“Crown Prince, this gentleman is the One-Character Shoulder King!” Liu Jin reminded him.
Yan Chuan waited silently.
Looking at Yan Chuan, who was about his age, Yan Wudi’s face showed a complicated expression.
“Prince, etiquette must not be neglected!” one officer whispered.
Yan Wudi raised an eyebrow, nodded, took a deep breath, and offered the most basic salute to Yan Chuan.
“Greetings, Uncle Wang,” Yan Wudi said with difficulty.
If it weren’t for etiquette, Yan Wudi truly could not bring himself to say those words, for in his heart, he held no respect for Yan Chuan.
