Chapter 106: The Star of the Broken Army (Part 1)
Chapter 31: The Star of the Breaking Army
“It’s here!” Mr. Wen Ruo suddenly exclaimed.
Everyone immediately turned their heads to look ahead.
As the small boat came to a stop, the three thousand warriors halted abruptly as well.
Before them stood what appeared to be a towering yellow wall of energy. Yet upon closer inspection, it revealed itself not as a mere wall but as a vast cylindrical barrier of yellow qi.
Within this energy barrier, the upper section shimmered with golden light amidst the yellow, while the lower part was suffused with swirling black vapors.
The black miasma ravaged the golden glow, and faintly visible deep within—thousands of feet away—was a black-purple lotus flower, its stem as dark as ink, seemingly floating in midair.
“This golden light—is it all the qi from a dragon vein?” Azure Dragon asked in astonishment.
“It is indeed dragon vein qi!” Mo Yu Xi confirmed without hesitation.
“This… this is too extravagant. In my lifetime, I’ve never seen so much dragon vein energy. How much could there possibly be here?” White Tiger said in disbelief.
“What a grand feng shui formation, and such heavy malevolent energy!” Yan Chuan also marveled.
“Malevolent energy?” Azure Dragon glanced toward Yan Chuan.
“The entire feng shui formation must be designed to contain this demonic lotus,” Yan Chuan said solemnly, “yet even with such immense dragon vein power, it cannot completely suppress it. The malevolent energy rages unchecked. This Ten-Thousand-Subtle Lotus is truly extraordinary!”
“Master Yan, do you have a way to break through it?” Mr. Wen Ruo inquired.
“The mist within this small world is thick, and the upper layers are unclear. Let’s ascend to the top and have a look,” Yan Chuan suggested.
“Agreed.” Mr. Wen Ruo nodded.
The small boat carried them along the yellow energy wall, slowly rising higher and higher.
“Two thousand zhang already!” Azure Dragon announced.
“Stop!” Yan Chuan suddenly commanded.
The boat halted, and the group looked upward. The mist above was thinning, allowing some clarity.
“This is within the feng shui formation—how can we see the stars?” Azure Dragon was astonished.
“We cannot ascend further. Beyond this point lies the exit of the formation and the outside world,” Yan Chuan warned.
“But months ago, when I was outside, I never saw this entrance,” Mo Yu Xi said, puzzled.
“This exit only allows outward passage; once you leave, you cannot return,” Yan Chuan shook his head.
“Indeed, I once sent out a magical artifact, but once it left, I couldn’t retrieve it,” Mr. Wen Ruo agreed.
“I had thought this was a hemispherical sealed dome, but it turns out to be a cylindrical open shield,” Yan Chuan frowned in thought.
“What’s this, Yan Chuan? You said earlier you could break the formation. Now you say it’s impossible? If you kill Ding Wugu and fail to obtain the Ten-Thousand-Subtle Lotus, you will bear full responsibility!” Yang Zhijiu remained resentful.
Yan Chuan paid no mind to Yang Zhijiu’s words and continued to stare into the sky.
Faintly, Yan Chuan seemed to discern a pale green pillar, so faint it was almost imperceptible. The pillar extended into the Heavenly Pool above, while its other end stretched deep into the distant starry sky.
“What is that?” Yan Chuan’s pupils contracted sharply.
“Huh?” Mr. Wen Ruo’s expression also changed abruptly.
“What is it?” Yang Zhijiu asked in confusion.
“That pillar—is it star force?” Mr. Wen Ruo looked toward Yan Chuan as if seeking confirmation.
“Extracting star energy—what a formidable feng shui array. Who arranged this? To harness the power of the nine heavens’ stars to restrain the Ten-Thousand-Subtle Lotus?” Yan Chuan’s complexion shifted.
“The power of the nine heavens’ stars?” Mo Yu Xi exclaimed in surprise.
“The one who set the formation was called the Great Wonder Immortal Master,” Mr. Wen Ruo said after some thought.
“An immortal?” Yan Chuan asked, astonished.
“Not quite an immortal, more like a quasi-immortal. According to the records, he had reached the pinnacle of the void realm and only needed to transcend a tribulation to become an immortal. Yet for some unknown reason, he fell, leaving behind this formation,” Mr. Wen Ruo explained thoughtfully.
