“Damn it, damn it, how could my men have been wiped out?” Outside the Misty Forest, Red Skull, the leader of the Blood Skull Mercenary Corps, was seething with rage. He hadn’t expected that all three men he sent out would be eliminated, and fury burned fiercely within him.

“Qin Feng, the Blood Skull Mercenary Corps will definitely annihilate you.” His gaze was ice-cold and sinister, like a venomous snake ready to strike selectively. A dense aura of murderous intent radiated from him, chilling the air around by dozens of degrees in an instant, as if standing amidst a millennia-old glacier—utterly frigid and forbidding.

Red Skull sought out Viper, the temporary leader of over two thousand men. “Viper, I need to locate that minor leader who was captured by that group before.”

“No problem, but I hope you can keep my men safe,” Viper replied. Though he had many under his command, each was invaluable, and he dreaded any losses.

“Don’t worry, it won’t be a big issue. At least, no lives will be lost,” Red Skull said dismissively, caring little for their lives, which he deemed insignificant.

Soon, the minor leader previously captured by Qin Feng was found. Red Skull brought him to a deserted thicket. Viper arrived as well, but he came with guards to prevent any mishaps.

“Shhh!” Red Skull uttered a strange, chilling sound that sent shivers down the spine.

A cold wind swept through the forest, and in the next moment, a five-meter-long snake appeared before them. Its triangular head marked it unmistakably as a venomous viper, flicking its forked tongue in a terrifying display.

“My treasure, you’ve finally arrived,” Red Skull said tenderly to the snake. The viper responded with affection, wagging its tail happily and slithering over to gently touch Red Skull’s hand.

Viper and his men were horrified. They hadn’t expected Red Skull to be so close to a venomous snake, much less to have tamed such a beast. Particularly striking was the red skull engraved on the serpent’s head—undoubtedly carved by Red Skull himself. The more they thought about it, the more convinced they were that Red Skull was no ordinary man—a terrifying figure to be avoided at all costs, lest one die without even realizing how.

“Red Skull, your treasure is truly magnificent,” Viper said calmly, having seen enough to maintain his composure, though several of his men and the minor leader trembled in fear. A single bite from that viper could mean death.

“Of course, whose treasure wouldn’t be?” Red Skull said proudly. Then he turned to Viper. “Viper, may I borrow your minor leader for a moment?”

Hearing Red Skull’s calm tone, Viper felt an uneasy premonition. He couldn’t quite place why, but a chill crept into his heart. Yet, he kept his expression steady and said, “Red Skull, if you intend to pursue those people, I have no objection.”

“You’re right—I am targeting that group,” Red Skull smiled faintly, clearly understanding who Viper meant. Aside from Qin Feng and his companions, who else could it be?

Red Skull’s smile sent a shudder down Viper’s spine, but he forced himself to remain calm, knowing he must never lose his composure.

“Treasure, come here,” Red Skull beckoned the viper toward the minor leader.

The snake wagged its tail happily and slithered over to the trembling minor leader, who frantically waved his hands and shouted, “Go away! Don’t come near me!”

Clearly angered, the viper struck swiftly, biting one of the minor leader’s right-hand fingers.

“Ah, my finger!” the minor leader screamed in agony.

“Red Skull, what do you mean by this?” Viper’s anger flared; he hadn’t expected Red Skull’s viper to attack a person.

“My treasure doesn’t attack recklessly. He was merely startled because the man was flailing and shouting at him. Considering that, not aiming for vital spots was mercy. Honestly, you might as well cut off his finger now—if we wait any longer, he might not survive,” Red Skull said casually, as if it were no big deal.

“Hand me the combat knife,” Viper ordered his men. One passed it to him, and he approached the minor leader.

With a swift slice, he severed the finger bitten by the snake and then directed his men to staunch the bleeding.

“Red Skull, I expect you to wipe out those people. Otherwise, we won’t honor our previous agreement. Also, you owe me an explanation,” Viper said, meeting Red Skull’s gaze.

“Don’t worry. That group won’t escape. Once my treasure acts, they will be exterminated. He’s already caught their scent from that minor leader. Following that trail, my treasure will find and eliminate them,” Red Skull said coldly. His hatred for Qin Feng was boundless. No matter what, he would destroy him. He had absolute confidence in his treasure—the viper he brought was a fearsome predator of the jungle. Once unleashed, Qin Feng would surely be wiped out.

As for the explanation Viper demanded, Red Skull paid it no mind. He didn’t even regard Viper as worthy of notice. If Viper displeased him, he could simply annihilate him. As one of the founders of the Blood Skull Mercenary Corps, Red Skull had vanquished countless formidable foes; one more like Viper was nothing.

“Go, my treasure,” Red Skull said to the viper. The snake wagged its tail affectionately, touched Red Skull’s hand once more, then swiftly disappeared into the Misty Forest within a few breaths.

“Qin Feng, once my treasure moves, you will be utterly destroyed, with no place for your remains to rest,” Red Skull vowed inwardly. His hatred for Qin Feng burned fiercely, and he was determined to ensure Qin Feng would not survive. The Blood Skull Mercenary Corps was relentless; once they fixed on a target, they pursued without rest until death.

A cold wind swept through the jungle, carrying an icy chill. The forest was filled with a grim and deadly atmosphere, as if the silent night concealed untold dangers just beneath the surface.
