Chapter Fifty-Seven: The Battle Plan!
“The Commercial Tower is a thirty-nine-story business building. The unidentified group is on the thirty-seventh floor,” Su Yun said as she took out a photograph. It had been gathered during intelligence reconnaissance—a picture of the building, with a room on the thirty-seventh floor marked. That was where the unidentified group held the hostages.
Pointing to the highlighted spot, Su Yun paused and continued, “The targets are here. The hostages are inside, and the enemy’s position is over here. It’s very tricky. A sniper might be able to take out one of them, but only one. If we eliminate one enemy, the rest will be alerted. There's no telling how they'll react—a cornered beast may bite, and the hostages’ safety would be at risk.”
“The blueprint of the Commercial Tower,” Qin Feng said. He thought that with the blueprint, they could better understand the situation and devise a plan to fight the enemy, ensuring the safe rescue of the hostages.
Su Yun handed the blueprint to Qin Feng. She sensed his combat ability was impressive, and his mind sharp; perhaps he could come up with a solution.
“Everyone, take a look. Let’s pool our ideas and see if we can come up with a good strategy,” Qin Feng said, glancing at it before passing it to Liang Xiaoyu, Mo Zhuofan, Liu Xiaosheng, and Lin Yun, each of whom examined it for inspiration.
“The layout of the thirty-seventh floor is very unfavorable for our operation. That area looks quite complicated,” Liang Xiaoyu remarked after studying the blueprint. He felt the architecture was too complex for easy movement.
“Yes, the layout works against us and greatly favors the enemy. It’s suited for defense, not for assault. That means the unidentified group isn’t simple—they have some knowledge of military defense and tactical skills. It seems they’ve lived on the edge for years, honing their methods,” Qin Feng nodded. He realized these adversaries weren’t ordinary; at the very least, they understood military defense techniques and looked formidable.
“Five minutes have already passed. We have ten minutes left to prepare and devise a plan. Time is short—we need to race against the clock to strategize,” Liang Xiaoyu said. He felt the urgency; only by thinking fast could they rescue the hostages and defeat the unidentified group.
“Qin Feng, do you have an outline in mind? Share it with us. Among the six of us, the captain might have seen real combat, and your fighting ability is impressive; maybe you have some ideas?” Liu Xiaosheng looked at Qin Feng, sensing that his imagination was extraordinary and his combat prowess strong—perhaps he would come up with a plan.
“Qin Feng, go ahead. Speak up, let’s see if your plan is viable,” Su Yun encouraged him. She knew his fighting ability well—he had fought alongside her as a mercenary.
“Let me see,” Qin Feng replied, scrutinizing the photograph and intelligence. After about a minute, he raised his head. “I have a plan. It’s the only one I’ve come up with so far.”
“What’s the plan? Only one? No Plan B?” Lin Yun asked, sensing that it was no ordinary strategy and maybe feasible.
“That’s right,” Qin Feng said. It was the only plan he had at the moment.
“You mean—?” Su Yun, a member of the secret unit, had a hunch what Qin Feng was planning after he mentioned his strategy; she felt it might be similar to her own idea.
“Yes, my plan is probably like yours,” Qin Feng replied. He sensed that Su Yun had guessed his intention—a solid plan, and their thinking seemed to align. Was it a case of two minds thinking as one?
“Tell us. What’s the plan?” Liang Xiaoyu looked to Su Yun.
“Qin Feng, is it that besides me, you need a sniper?” Su Yun asked, suspecting their ideas matched. If so, it meant her thoughts and Qin Feng’s were truly alike.
“Yes, I think I can be the sniper,” Qin Feng said. He was a sniper himself, confident in his marksmanship.
“Qin Feng, before you decide, let me remind you—we only get one shot. If we miss or fail to hit the enemy, the mission’s failure is the least of our worries. The real danger is not just the hostages being sacrificed, but Xiaoyu and the others could also be in harm’s way,” Su Yun fixed her gaze on Qin Feng. She saw that his plan truly matched hers, but it was fraught with risk and required careful consideration.
Qin Feng frowned slightly, falling silent. The decision was difficult, but he felt he was up to the task and could save the hostages.
“Qin Feng, if you’re not confident, let me think again. I’ll see if there’s another plan,” Su Yun said. She knew this approach was no simple matter; lives could be lost at any moment, and caution was paramount.
“We don’t have much time left—only eight minutes now,” Lin Yun said after checking his watch. He felt the urgency; they needed to decide quickly.
“Su Yun, I believe I can do this. I can fight—don’t forget I defeated the King of Snipers, and my marksmanship continues to improve. I’ve fought by your side,” Qin Feng said, his expression resolute. He believed in his abilities, his skill as a sniper growing ever stronger. He had beaten the King of Snipers and stood alongside Su Yun in battle, a fierce mercenary. He looked at Su Yun and said, “Su Yun, trust me.”
His words were few, but they revealed his determination. He believed he could do it.
“Alright,” Su Yun nodded. She knew Qin Feng’s strength—she had fought alongside him against tough mercenaries. She continued, “Now let me lay out our plan. For this operation, Qin Feng and I will be stationed on the thirty-eighth floor of a business building six hundred meters from the Commercial Tower. The area is surrounded by business buildings, so our only option is another commercial tower. I’ll ask my colleagues in the Armed Police to help negotiate with the property owner of that floor, so we can secure the space and facilitate our mission.”
