“Huh? What’s this?” Qin Feng stared at the Blue Wolf King, whose skull had cracked open against the trunk of a tree, astonishment gleaming in his eyes. The Blue Wolf King had run headlong into the tree on its own and killed itself.

“Saves me the trouble of using my military knife.” Seeing that the Blue Wolf King was finished, Qin Feng refrained from further action.

“At last, the wolves and their king are dealt with. The danger has passed.” Qin Feng sat down heavily on the ground to rest, feeling that he’d just survived an incredibly perilous ordeal. He hadn’t expected to encounter a wolf pack, let alone their king. If not for his formidable combat skills, he would surely have perished.

About five minutes later, Qin Feng rose from the ground and sprinted forward at remarkable speed. He sensed that the rendezvous point lay ahead and hurried to see if everyone was safe.

After roughly fifteen minutes, he reached a stretch of forest and sensed people nearby. Gunfire echoed through the woods, the surroundings left in chaos.

“How could there be people here? Are they pursuers?” Qin Feng was uncertain, suspecting the presence of enemy troops. Whether they were pursuers or not, he needed to stay vigilant in order to better confront any threats.

Soon, Qin Feng entered a dense thicket, peering carefully ahead. He felt that he might have arrived at the rendezvous point, but the area was eerily quiet—he wasn’t sure if his comrades were nearby.

Thinking for a moment, Qin Feng came up with an idea. “I can imitate a birdcall and see if any comrades respond. If they’re here, they’ll answer me.”

“Coo-coo!” Qin Feng began to mimic a birdcall, one of their signal codes.

“Coo-coo!” A reply soon echoed from the distance.

“That’s the sound of a comrade.” Qin Feng’s heart leapt with joy. He recognized the signal—it could only come from a brother-in-arms.

Cautiously, Qin Feng moved forward. Soon, the foliage ahead stirred lightly. If one didn’t look closely, it would seem to be nothing but the forest; but a careful eye would notice the ghillie suit—a figure dressed in camouflage approached.

“Fengzi, is that you? I’m Shadow.” The man looked at Qin Feng and spoke, his eyes bright with delight. He hadn’t expected to find Qin Feng here—it was the reconnaissance specialist, Shadow.

---

“Brother Shadow, I didn’t expect to see you either. Are you alright? That’s wonderful.” Qin Feng greeted him enthusiastically, relieved that Shadow was safe.

“Fengzi, let’s find a place to hide, just in case the enemy spots us,” Shadow suggested.

“Yes, we do need to stay hidden.” Qin Feng nodded, knowing the dangers lurking in the forest—they had to be cautious to survive.

Shadow signaled for Qin Feng to hide in a dense thicket deep within the woods, then lowered his voice, “Damn, that was close. Didn’t expect the enemy to be so fierce. Luckily, we managed to avoid danger.”

Shadow was still shaken, recalling how perilous their situation had been. It was a relief that they’d escaped; otherwise, things could have ended badly.

“Indeed, it was very dangerous,” Qin Feng agreed, feeling that their situation had been dire—and still was.

“Fengzi, have you found the captain and the others?” Shadow asked, unsure if Qin Feng had rejoined the team. Judging by appearances, Qin Feng hadn’t met up with them yet.

“The captain and the others withdrew before me. Haven’t you seen them? Maybe they didn’t come here, or perhaps they headed somewhere else.” Qin Feng replied, surprised and puzzled. He’d seen Eagle and the others retreat before he did, but now there was no sign of them.

Shadow’s expression grew grave. After a moment’s thought, he said, “We need to find the captain and the others quickly. Who knows where they are now? If we don’t hurry, they’ll be in danger.”

“Fengzi, do you have any good ideas?” Shadow felt they needed to evacuate soon for safety; any delay could spell trouble.

Qin Feng thought for a moment and replied, “I have a plan: I’ll draw the enemy away, and you find the captain and the others.”

“No, that’s too dangerous,” Shadow immediately objected, feeling that Qin Feng’s proposal was too risky.

“I think it’s fine. Let me go. I run fast, so I can leave quickly. Besides, you know the captain and the others well, and you’re familiar with the communication methods. You’ll have a better chance of reaching them. Once I lure the enemy away, I’ll come to the rendezvous point. Don’t worry about me—I’ll be alright.”

---

Qin Feng spoke, and seeing that Shadow wanted to say more, he ran off swiftly. His speed was astonishing—before Shadow could react, Qin Feng had already disappeared into the woods.

As Qin Feng vanished into the distance, Shadow was taken aback. He realized that Qin Feng’s speed was extraordinary—he hadn’t expected a new recruit to run so fast. Doubts lingered in his mind, but it was clear that Qin Feng truly was quick.

“Fengzi…” Shadow hadn’t expected to be directed by a rookie, which left him a little frustrated. “Still, you’re right—your speed is impressive. I hope you stay safe.”

Qin Feng was already gone, and if Shadow tried to draw the enemy himself, it wouldn’t be feasible. If he risked exposure, all of Qin Feng’s efforts would be for nothing.

He carefully surveyed the area, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. He spotted several dark shadows nearby, and hastily concealed himself under fallen leaves, even hiding his hair—making himself undetectable.

Once he was hidden, he watched as the enemy rushed off in a certain direction.

About half an hour later, calm returned to the area. Shadow carefully observed his surroundings and found no sign of enemies.

He stepped out cautiously, checked the area to confirm it was safe, and began to imitate a birdcall, “Coo-coo!”

The sound wasn’t loud, but it carried through the woods.

“Coo-coo!” Soon, a birdcall echoed from about a kilometer away within the forest—neither too far nor too close. The sound was within earshot, and Shadow knew instantly it was a comrade’s imitation. He moved forward carefully, believing it was likely his teammates. He moved through the forest—not fast, but not slow either—pressing onward.

After about thirty seconds, he spotted several figures in the distance. He looked closely and his eyes shone with joy.
