Chapter Seventy-Six: The Opponent Is Formidable!
“I have no idea where the enemy is hiding,” Qin Feng thought to himself. He searched carefully, sensing that the opponent was moving with astonishing speed and was highly skilled at remaining concealed. He needed to be cautious. Only by discovering the enemy’s location could he hope to deal with them effectively.
Remaining perfectly still, Qin Feng watched the area ahead with utmost vigilance. He could feel that the adversary was no weakling. Facing such a formidable opponent, Qin Feng knew he had to be on his guard if he hoped to survive.
He focused every ounce of his attention, keeping his eyes trained on the front, certain that an attack could come at any moment.
Just then, Zhang Cheng suddenly sensed an overwhelming aura of danger. He realized the enemy was powerful—so powerful it seemed they were about to reveal themselves. He caught a fleeting glimpse, as if a shadow was about to emerge.
Without time to think, Zhang Cheng dove swiftly toward a nearby tree. His movement was quick as lightning; with a roll, he concealed himself behind another trunk.
Bang! In an instant, a bullet whistled through the air and struck the tree where Qin Feng had previously been hidden, leaving a small hole. The trunk shuddered violently, a testament to the bullet’s immense power.
“Damn it, who is this? They found me that fast?” Qin Feng was shocked, cold sweat breaking out across his skin. He drew a sharp breath, realizing the enemy was a master—someone who had pinpointed his hiding spot almost immediately and opened fire. Had he not sensed the approaching danger and dodged in time, he would have ended up like that battered tree.
“Where is the enemy?” Qin Feng pondered, his gaze sweeping the terrain ahead. He could tell the opponent was strong; if he did not locate them, he would have little chance of winning or even surviving.
He quickly retrieved his Type 88 sniper rifle, moving so quietly that he made almost no sound. The wind in the forest masked what little noise he made, and the enemy seemed unaware of his maneuver. Qin Feng hid beneath the trees, set up his rifle, and scanned the area through the scope, ready to react at a moment’s notice.
He knew he faced a formidable foe. Only by being extremely vigilant could he hope to spot the enemy first, counterattack effectively, and prove his own strength—a strength that would mark him as truly exceptional.
Since the moment Qin Feng heard the gunshot, he had seen no further sign of the enemy. The figure had vanished as if into thin air.
Had the enemy disappeared? Had they left the area? Or were they simply lurking elsewhere?
In fact, the enemy was still there.
Qin Feng believed as much. He could sense a latent aura of danger in the surroundings. His intuition for peril was strong, so he remained concealed, observing his surroundings intently and preparing for any threat. He knew he needed to be stronger and more alert if he hoped to survive and complete his mission.
Soon, he caught the faintest sound of footsteps crushing dead leaves—so subtle it was almost lost in the wind. If not for his extraordinary hearing and careful attention, he might have missed it entirely, allowing the enemy to approach undetected.
Qin Feng listened intently. He felt the enemy drawing closer, moving with utter stealth, as if intent on killing him without leaving a trace. This was no ordinary adversary; their strength was evident in every move.
“A master—the enemy is a master,” Qin Feng thought. He was filled with caution, knowing that only by being extremely careful could he hope to counter such a skilled opponent.
A sense of looming threat weighed on Qin Feng’s heart, like storm clouds gathering over a city, ready to crush it. He kept his vigilance high, eyes scanning all around, prepared to respond instantly to any attack.
“It seems the enemy has found my position again. I have to be even more careful now if I want to stand a chance,” he resolved. His nerves were taut as bowstrings, sweat soaking his body, but he forced himself to remain calm, knowing that only composure would keep him alive.
Suddenly, he glimpsed a figure flashing by—quick as a phantom, testing the waters or perhaps preparing to strike. The speed was astonishing, no slower than before.
Despite the swift movement, Qin Feng caught a detail: on the enemy’s neck was a tattoo—an image of a crimson skull, lifelike and vivid. As the figure ran, the tattoo seemed almost to come alive, exuding an aura of menace.
“A crimson skull tattoo?” Qin Feng was startled, but understanding dawned quickly. “That must be a tattoo, and a clear one at that. The enemy could be a member of the Blood Skull Mercenary Corps. If that’s the case, I won’t hold back.”
He realized this opponent was not to be underestimated. The Blood Skull Mercenaries were his sworn enemies, a hatred that would not end until one side was utterly destroyed. Now that he had identified their operative, he didn’t hesitate—he would fight with everything he had.
Qin Feng continued to observe the front. He felt the enemy’s strength and skill—clearly a master. He needed to remain cautious to stand a chance of prevailing and completing his mission.
“No matter which mercenary group you belong to, I will not let you harm my comrades,” Qin Feng vowed silently. He would fight this Blood Skull mercenary with all his might, determined to protect his brothers. He would not allow another disaster at the border. He would make these mercenaries understand the true meaning of strength.
At that moment, he saw a figure dart out from behind a tree, moving with terrifying speed. The oppressive aura was suffocating, threatening to crush him.
“I will fight with all my strength,” Qin Feng resolved, drawing his energy together, steeling himself for battle. He recognized the enemy’s power, but he would let his own spirit blaze forth. Only then could he defeat this adversary, fulfill his mission, and return home.
