Chapter Fifty-Five: S-Class Emergency Mission!
Instantly, through his sniper scope, Qin Feng saw that the King of Snipers had fired a shot. He quickly dodged away, taking cover behind another large tree. After ensuring his safety, he cautiously poked his head out to observe. A wisp of white smoke was rising in the distance. A smile spread across Qin Feng’s face—the King of Snipers had been “taken out” by him; he had defeated the King of Snipers.
“Qin Feng, you rascal, not bad at all.” The King of Snipers emerged from his hiding spot in the shrubbery. He felt Qin Feng’s sniping skills were impressive. Though Qin Feng had not yet surpassed him, in certain aspects he already excelled. Given time, it was not impossible that Qin Feng might overtake him entirely.
“Heh, King of Snipers, it was just luck. Your skills are formidable—I was fortunate this time, nothing more.” Qin Feng replied with a modest smile, knowing well that his victory was largely due to luck.
“No need for false modesty, either of you. The contest is over, and I declare Qin Feng the winner.” At this moment, Su Yun appeared beside them in a few swift, silent leaps. Both Qin Feng and the King of Snipers were taken aback; they hadn’t realized Su Yun had been hiding so well. Only now did they realize her presence, silently acknowledging that she was a true master—a genuine expert.
“I’ve won,” Qin Feng said, his face alight with joy. Still, he knew he had many areas to improve upon, and so resolved to continue working hard and striving to perfect his sniping skills.
“So this is the expert who’s been teaching you. No wonder your sniping is so advanced. I admit defeat wholeheartedly.” The King of Snipers glanced at Su Yun. He was well aware that her prowess exceeded his own, and it made sense that she could train a marksman of Qin Feng’s caliber.
“All right, it’s late. Everyone should go and rest now,” Su Yun said. The King of Snipers nodded and left for his quarters.
Su Yun led Qin Feng back to the dormitory. On the way, she offered him further instruction in sniping techniques. At last, each returned to their own dormitory for the night.
Time passed quickly; in the blink of an eye, a week had gone by.
In the morning, the training base of the Fierce Tiger Special Operations Battalion was bathed in bright sunlight. A gentle breeze swept through, making the day feel particularly pleasant.
In the forest, Qin Feng was training in hand-to-hand combat. Weighted down, he struck relentlessly at the trunk of a massive tree, his movements astonishingly swift.
Thud! Thud! Thud! Each heavy blow sent leaves cascading from the branches above, fluttering down like a rain of autumn leaves.
This was training Su Yun had assigned to Qin Feng. Beyond his regular regimen, she added extra elements. Hand-to-hand combat was one; there were also sniper drills and other capability-building exercises. Under Su Yun’s tutelage, his strength was rising sharply—he was now many times stronger than when he’d first joined the Fierce Tiger Special Operations Battalion.
Qin Feng’s combat abilities were constantly improving; he was a formidable fighter in every respect, ranking among the very best of the rookies in the battalion.
Su Yun watched from the trees nearby, ready to guide him if he encountered any difficulties.
Qin Feng trained for over three hours, persisting through fatigue, feeling his strength gradually increasing. He knew there was always someone stronger, and true masters were extraordinary indeed. He had a pact with Su Yun—a promise made for three years hence—that he would join the mysterious unit she belonged to. Only by relentlessly improving could he hope to be worthy. He understood that the mysterious unit was no ordinary place.
He knew what real combat power meant, and that the abilities of Su Yun’s unit were likely on an entirely different level. Compared to them, he might as well be a child facing adults. Thus, he strove ever harder to improve his own abilities.
Suddenly, a shrill alarm pierced the air.
Qin Feng’s expression changed instantly. Su Yun swiftly dropped down from the tree, glancing toward the direction of the Fierce Tiger Special Operations Battalion’s base. She turned to Qin Feng and said, “Qin Feng, that’s an S-level alert. Let’s go and see what’s happening.”
This was an emergency alert. Such alerts ranged in severity from C, B, A, up to S, with SSS being the absolute highest. While S was not the very top, it was still a serious alarm that demanded their full attention.
“The alarm has sounded. That probably means we’re about to be sent on a mission,” Su Yun said quietly, her familiarity with the battalion’s alert system clear. She told Qin Feng, “Let’s head back and assess the situation before deciding our next steps.”
“Understood.” Qin Feng nodded, and together they raced back toward the training base with remarkable speed.
After about a quarter of an hour, the two of them arrived at the base.
On the training ground, the special operations team was already fully armed and ready. Qin Feng immediately joined his unit, while Su Yun stood to the side.
At that moment, the battalion commander stood before everyone, swept his gaze over the assembled troops, and began to speak. “A new mission has come down from above. The Armed Police, while pursuing an unidentified group, accidentally exposed their position. This group’s reconnaissance capabilities are highly advanced—they detected the Armed Police’s presence. As a result, the Armed Police and the unidentified group are now locked in a standoff.
When the group realized they’d been discovered, they acted ruthlessly and viciously, showing no regard for human life. They have taken nine hostages and are entrenched on the upper floors of a high-end commercial building. Fortunately, all other civilians have been evacuated, but since the building is located in a bustling district, an assault would risk massive casualties and property loss. Hence, the standoff continues.
There is concern that a protracted standoff will have dire consequences, both for public safety and the wellbeing of the hostages.
Therefore, the Armed Police have requested support from our higher-ups. The decision has been made: our Fierce Tiger Special Operations Battalion will be deployed for this mission.
You are elite special forces, and this is a crucial task. I expect you to prove, through action, that you are up to the challenge.
I need a team—a strong, capable special operations squad—to take on this mission. Who wishes to volunteer? Whether you’re a seasoned operative, a regular soldier, or a rookie, you may step forward. There will be a team leader.”
As he finished, he turned to look at Su Yun. The meaning was clear: Su Yun was to lead the squad.
Su Yun gave a slight nod. The battalion commander was her elder brother, and as a member of the mysterious unit, she understood his intention perfectly. She would lead the team, undertake the mission, and ensure its success. With her wealth of experience, she was well equipped to command, to battle the enemy, and to rescue the hostages.
