"I am somewhat lucky." Qin Feng reflected on his situation; otherwise, he would have died without ever knowing how.

He pondered for a moment, feeling grateful to be alive. Suddenly, a wave of hunger hit him. He reached for his backpack, which had held up remarkably well; despite being carried by the young birds, it hadn't fallen, and the contents remained undamaged.

He hurriedly retrieved some compressed biscuits. Seeing they were still edible, he began to eat ravenously. Perhaps due to his hunger, he devoured four bars in one go—double his usual portion. Qin Feng dared not eat more, fearing that if the enemy hadn't killed him and the birds hadn't eaten him, he might end up dying from overeating compressed biscuits—which would be a ridiculous way to go. He decided to moderate his intake, eating just enough to satiate his hunger.

After a while, Qin Feng felt his strength returning, likely due to the energy from the biscuits. He quickly checked his gear, noting that his sniper rifle was missing, though his other equipment remained. He then examined his body and found nothing but a few scratches. Fortunately, they were only superficial, and given his robust constitution, he would recover quickly.

"Let me think about how I ended up here and what happened," Qin Feng said to himself, needing to piece together the events to plan his next move.

He began to recall. To avoid being gunned down by the pursuing enemies and to save his comrades, he had jumped into the river without hesitation. He had swum through the turbulent currents until, overwhelmed by the intensity of the water, he lost consciousness. In his hazy state, he vaguely remembered being picked up by something, though the memory was indistinct.

And now, he had awakened here. He felt as though a great deal had transpired in the interim.

"I wonder how my comrades are doing. Black Wolf must have been sent home for treatment by now. Maybe War Eagle and Flying Shadow are safe, too." Thinking of his team, he hoped his decision to draw the enemy away had ensured their safety.

"What time is it now?" Qin Feng looked at his military watch. It was durable—moisture-proof, shock-resistant, and sun-resistant—and remained in perfect condition.

"I’ve been lying here for three days?" Seeing the date on the watch, he realized he had been in this cave for three days. He felt fortunate that his life had been spared; otherwise, he would have perished without a trace.

Suddenly, he thought of Su Yun. If she learned of his predicament, she would certainly come looking for him, and perhaps she was already on her way. If something happened to her... he dared not imagine it. He could only pray she was safe.

With this thought, he quickly packed his gear and began to observe his surroundings.

"Two chicks. I wonder what kind of birds these are." Qin Feng stood up carefully and walked toward the young birds, his footsteps light and silent, fearing he might wake them and draw their parents back.

Upon reaching them, he realized what they were. "Eagles? Are these eaglets?"

Seeing the young eagles, Qin Feng understood. "The parent eagle must have mistaken me for food and brought me here to feed its young. Maybe the chicks weren't interested in me?"

He looked closer and saw scraps of his ghillie suit nearby, torn and shredded. Apparently, the material didn't taste good to them, so they had left him alone. "Perhaps they found the ghillie suit unpalatable, and concluded that I wasn't good to eat. That could be it."

Qin Feng felt his luck was decent—not extraordinary, but enough to get by. "My character must be pretty good," he mused, feeling that perhaps his past good deeds had tipped the scales in his favor. He decided he should continue to do good to keep his luck on his side.

"Let me see if I can get out of here." He carefully approached the mouth of the cave.

As his strength recovered and his circulation improved, he reached the cave entrance and observed the outside. It was a steep, jagged cliff. The cave was perched high up, and looking down, he could see a turbulent river running far below, posing a lethal threat.

Though it was a cliffside, it was not barren. It was covered in dense, lush vegetation, with trees clinging to the rock face, creating a vibrant, green expanse.

Just then, Qin Feng noticed something crawling nearby—a long, slender shape—but the thick foliage made it impossible to identify. It moved too quickly for him to get a clear look.

"It looks like a snake, but not quite; it looks like a beast, yet not entirely. I can't tell what it is." Because of the distance and the screening trees, the creature remained a mystery, though he felt an faint aura of danger. Since the threat didn't seem imminent, he didn't dwell on it.

"Getting down from this cliff won't be easy," he thought. The cliff was deep, and the dense trees obscured the ground, making it impossible to tell if there were safe footholds or if he would simply plummet to his death. Aside from the trees, there were a few vines, but the surrounding rock was severely weathered and brittle; one wrong step could cause the stone to crumble.

The cave was about five or six hundred meters above the ground. He considered fashioning a rope from vines, but the cliff was too sheer. Even getting out of the cave entrance was precarious; the trees swayed, and he risked falling at any moment.

Given the current situation, it seemed impossible for him to descend the cliff by any conventional means. Unless he were like the eagles—possessing wings to fly from the high precipice to the ground—he was effectively trapped in the cave, unable to reach the valley floor safely.
