Chapter Thirty-Three: Reaching an Agreement on Returning Home

As a man reborn with knowledge of the future, Chen Siyuan had built an enormous empire over the years.
In the American legal world, the Jack Chen Law Firm was unquestionably a top-tier presence.
The intangible assets that had grown out of it were countless.
Even Chen Siyuan himself had no idea exactly how much wealth he possessed.
His assets underwent miraculous growth every single day.
Only during the year-end inventory could anyone arrive at a rough estimate.
And even that figure was merely approximate. For the sake of financial security, many offshore assets were excluded from the tally.
In America, the various taxes were enough to make anyone question the meaning of life.
For those living on this land, lawful tax avoidance was therefore of the utmost importance.
The Jack Chen Law Firm handled a great deal of business in that area.
And Chen Siyuan was a classic case of having his body in one camp while his heart belonged to another. So long as the law permitted it, he would never let America earn a single extra cent from him!
To put it simply, he had divided everything into countless pieces and hidden it away. It was an impressive feat, and that was all there was to it!
As for women, he could also be considered a winner.
During his first three years, he had reveled among all kinds of beauties—dark and fair, innocent and alluring. If there was something worth trying, he had tried it.
Then, in 1997, he entered into a fake marriage and took the Celestial Fairy’s mother as his wife.
He had even gotten her to bear him a son.
Wasn’t that something to be proud of?
For a man reborn with knowledge of the future, it was certainly worth boasting about.
But every gain came with a loss. After marriage, it was as though a wild horse had been fitted with reins.
Especially now that he had a son.
Chen Siyuan had not gone out womanizing for a long time.
On one hand, he had genuinely grown tired of those tall Western women.
On the other, his wife and children occupied all his time.
He simply could not spare the time to play around.
Even so, the entertainment industry in China still held an attraction for him.
After all, so many familiar young actresses from his original timeline were waiting to bloom!
“This weekend, I’ll take you to see your god-grandfather.”
Chen Siyuan felt it was necessary to bring the old man back to China with them. But that task would have to be accomplished by his beloved grandson.
“All right, you two go wash up and get ready for dinner!”
Liu Xiaoli affectionately put an arm around Chen Siyuan, then sent Liu Yifei and Chen Zehan off to wash.

“Siyuan, thank you!”
Liu Xiaoli kissed him lightly beside the mouth.
There was nothing like Liu Xiaoli’s tenderness.
He had truly chosen the right woman.
Once she was no longer preoccupied with Liu Yifei and consumed by worry, she was still a gentle and graceful woman.
Liu Xiaoli had prepared dinner.
After fulfilling her agreement, You Qingqing had left.
Before departing, however, she had still taught Liu Xiaoli a few culinary tricks.
As a result, Liu Xiaoli’s cooking had successfully surpassed Chen Siyuan’s.
Chen Siyuan had also managed to retire from the kitchen with honors.
“Yifei, when do you expect to earn enough credits?”
At the dinner table, Chen Siyuan gazed at Liu Yifei with pride.
This daughter of his worked far too hard!
In America, both middle school and high school operated on a credit system. The standard course of study lasted seven years, but Liu Yifei was close to completing all her credits in just four.
“Credits? I’ve already earned enough! I have twenty-eight credits now!”
Liu Yifei spoke with some pride.
“Then apply for graduation. You can return to China and take the entrance examination for the Beijing Film Academy!”
Chen Siyuan was bringing up the matter once again.
“Really?”
Liu Yifei broke into a wide grin.
“Siyuan, are we really going back to China?”
Liu Xiaoli was still somewhat hesitant.
“China has been developing extremely rapidly these past few years. For Yifei, returning home is the best choice.”
Chen Siyuan was very firm on this point.
“Dad, why do you want Big Sister to go to China? I don’t want to be separated from her!”
Chen Zehan finished his meal in three bites and looked at Chen Siyuan in confusion.
“Who said you’ll be separated from your sister? You’re going back to China too!”
“Huh? Then I’ll be separated from Grandpa?”
Chen Zehan’s face filled with conflict. His grandfather doted on him terribly.
“Isn’t your grandfather especially fond of his good grandson? When you go to see him this weekend, find a way to persuade him to return to China with us!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Zehan’s eyes began to spin mischievously.
The little boy was clever. Clearly, he had already thought of a way to persuade his beloved grandfather.
Chen Siyuan secretly rejoiced. There was always someone who could overpower someone else, and that old fraud would be completely at Chen Zehan’s mercy.
“Siyuan, can Yifei really apply to the Beijing Film Academy? Does she also need to take China’s national college entrance examination?”
Liu Xiaoli had no reason left to oppose Liu Yifei’s return to China. Now she was worried about two things: whether Liu Yifei was qualified to apply to the Beijing Film Academy, and whether she would have to sit for the national entrance examination.
After all, ordinary Chinese applicants were already eighteen or nineteen by the time they took the examination and applied to the academy.
“There’s absolutely no problem. On January 31, 2000, China’s Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Public Security jointly issued the Regulations on the Administration of Higher Educational Institutions Accepting Foreign Students. Foreign nationals who have graduated from high school or possess an equivalent level of education only need to take the specialized entrance examination when applying to Chinese institutions of higher education; they do not need to take the academic-subject examination. Yifei holds American citizenship, and once she has earned enough credits, she will have graduated from high school. When the time comes, she’ll only need to take the Beijing Film Academy’s arts entrance examination.”
Chen Siyuan was a lawyer, after all. Naturally, he would not allow any problems to arise in this area. He had already researched every relevant detail thoroughly.
“Then… will you return to China with us?”
Liu Xiaoli hesitated.
Unlike them, Chen Siyuan had his career and everything else tied to America.
“Don’t worry. I’ll return with you. You should understand that my identity itself will also serve as a form of protection for Yifei.”
“Thank you, Dad! I love you most of all!”
Liu Yifei threw her arms around Chen Siyuan, her face full of emotion.
“Siyuan, what about your work here?”
Although Liu Xiaoli very much wanted Chen Siyuan to accompany them, she could not think only of herself.
“As for the firm, I’ve already trained everyone there properly. In fact, I rarely handle specific cases anymore. Most of the work is done by them, so my departure won’t affect the firm’s operations. And even if something difficult comes up, it can be dealt with by email or videoconference.”
Liu Xiaoli looked at her two children, then at Chen Siyuan. At last, she made up her mind.
“Then we’ll do as you say. Once Yifei’s graduation application is approved, our whole family will return to China together!”
“When the time comes, you can also make a trip to Russia. After all, you still hold an honorary position there.”
Chen Siyuan smiled. Although more than three years had passed since The Death of the New Swan was released, its influence had only grown stronger.
Liu Xiaoli, who had been away from dance for many years, had also become a world-renowned dance artist.
Russia had continued to preserve her honorary position as well, and even sent her a formal invitation every year.
Liu Xiaoli nodded. Dance still held an important place in her heart.
Now that she no longer needed to worry about her children, there would be no problem if she returned to the stage and resumed her career.
“Dad, after we return to China, can I attend school together with Big Sister?”
Chen Zehan suddenly asked a question that even Chen Siyuan could not answer.
