Chapter 28: Learn the Sword Dance with Me
The fastest way to win someone over is through their stomach! And the Chen family had been completely conquered by a single medicinal meal prepared by You Qingqing.
"Great Aunt, I feel like I've wasted the last few decades of my life!"
You Qingqing’s medicinal meal was originally intended specifically for Liu Xiaoli, but Chen Siyuan, Liu Yifei, and Nicole Kidman all benefited from it. One by one, they were all won over.
You Qingqing smiled modestly. "My ancestors owned a restaurant, so I just picked up a few tricks for cooking. It’s nothing worth mentioning."
"Great Aunt, you call that nothing worth mentioning? Aside from cooking, and, oh, midwifery, what are you most skilled at?" Chen Siyuan asked curiously.
"Sword dancing!"
As You Qingqing spoke, her eyes remained fixed on Liu Yifei. Chen Siyuan, a top-tier gold-medal lawyer, possessed extraordinary observational skills and naturally noticed the peculiarity in her gaze.
"Great Aunt, are you talking about the legendary sword dance of Lady Gongsun?" Chen Siyuan probed.
You Qingqing glanced at him and chuckled. "It’s not quite as mystical as that, but if one practices it persistently, it is indeed excellent for strengthening the body, and for young girls, it helps maintain a graceful figure. Xixi, would you be willing to learn the sword dance from me?"
You Qingqing looked at Liu Yifei with a gentle expression. Liu Yifei blinked and turned to look at Chen Siyuan.
"Xixi, don't you want to be an actress? This is a great opportunity. If you master your Great Aunt’s sword dance, you won't have any trouble filming those period martial arts movies in the future!" Chen Siyuan’s eyes lit up; this was a golden opportunity for her. He knew that in his previous timeline, Liu Yifei had accumulated a body full of injuries at a young age simply because she lacked a proper foundation. If she could learn You Qingqing’s sword dance, everything might be different.
Liu Yifei trusted Chen Siyuan implicitly. With his encouragement, she immediately looked at You Qingqing and said obediently, "Grandma You, I am willing to learn the sword dance from you."
You Qingqing smiled. "Don’t be in such a hurry to agree. Watch first." She turned and headed to the kitchen, returning with a sword case. Chen Siyuan’s eyelids twitched—even from a glance, the case itself was clearly worth a fortune.
They moved to the courtyard, where You Qingqing opened the case and drew the sword. It looked like an ordinary weapon, but as the blade left the scabbard, Chen Siyuan felt a distinct, chilling aura. It was definitely a masterpiece.
"Sword dancing looks simple, but it requires extreme natural talent. It is not something the average person can learn," You Qingqing said, beginning to "dance" with the blade in hand.
Her movements were light as a swallow, her steps agile as the wind. As the sword rose, cold light flickered like a silver snake darting through the air. As it fell, a cold breeze swept across their faces, like a shooting star falling to earth. At times it was fierce and powerful, the sword’s momentum like a thunderclap capable of cleaving mountains; at others, it was soft and graceful, the sword’s shadow flowing like a gentle stream, soothing the soul. Her heart moved with the sword, and the sword followed her heart. It was dreamlike, surreal, and breathtakingly beautiful—a true "sword dance."
If Liu Yifei had agreed to learn just because of Chen Siyuan’s suggestion, she was now desperate to learn because it was simply magnificent. Nicole Kidman’s eyes shimmered as well. *Is this Kung Fu? I want to learn too!* But unfortunately, You Qingqing had eyes only for Liu Yifei.
"Xixi, do you want to learn?" You Qingqing stood still, her breathing steady, smiling at the girl.
"Grandma You, I want to learn! I really do!" Liu Yifei excitedly rushed over and took her arm.
"Xixi, to learn my sword dance, you must take me as your master!"
"Take you as my master? How do I do that?" Liu Yifei asked, full of curiosity.
"Kneel down and kowtow to me three times."
Liu Yifei, quick-witted as always, immediately knelt and performed the three kowtows. You Qingqing laughed heartily. "Good apprentice!" She helped Liu Yifei up and pulled a jade pendant from her robes, handing it to her. "Xixi, this is a token for my new student. You must wear it always."
Liu Yifei looked at Chen Siyuan; the pendant was clearly a priceless treasure. "Since your master gave it to you, just accept it," Chen Siyuan said, feeling quite amused. *Well, well! The old con artist has her eyes on my unborn son, and her martial sister has her eyes on my daughter. Their futures are certainly nothing I need to worry about anymore.* At the very least, they wouldn't need to fear being bullied.
"Thank you, Master!" Liu Yifei happily took the pendant and put it on in front of her. You Qingqing nodded in satisfaction.
"Jack, could you ask if I can learn too?" Nicole Kidman asked urgently, having been deeply moved by the performance. Since You Qingqing spoke only in Chinese, Nicole could only catch fragments.
"Great Aunt, Nicole wants to know if she can learn your sword dance," Chen Siyuan asked on her behalf, though he already knew the answer.
As expected, You Qingqing shook her head. "Learning the sword dance requires immense innate talent. She lacks the aptitude and cannot learn it."
Chen Siyuan gestured helplessly to Nicole, who looked visibly disappointed. You Qingqing ignored her, patted Liu Yifei on the shoulder, and turned to Liu Xiaoli. "Xiaoli, give me your hand; let me take your pulse."
Trusting Chen Siyuan, Liu Xiaoli obediently offered her wrist. You Qingqing felt her pulse for a brief moment before letting go. "Everything is fine; the little one is very healthy."
"Great Aunt, is it okay to have intimacy during this time?" Chen Siyuan suddenly asked a crucial question, which made Liu Xiaoli blush.
You Qingqing nodded. "It is fine to be intimate occasionally over the next two months; it can actually help relieve a pregnant woman's anxiety. Just remember, nothing too vigorous."
"That's good! That's good!" Chen Siyuan winked at Liu Xiaoli, who shot him a glare, though she couldn't help but find it amusing.
"Alright, you all go inside. I am going to teach Xixi now," You Qingqing said with a smile, ushering them away.
"Great Aunt, can’t we watch?" Chen Siyuan asked, feeling curious.
"It will only clutter your minds. Why watch?"
Chen Siyuan nodded and patted Liu Yifei’s head. "Xixi, study hard with your master!"
"I know, Dad!" Liu Yifei looked up at him with a sweet smile.
