Chapter Seven: Frenzied Monster Hunting and Rapid Leveling Up!
Just then, a hearty laugh echoed through the hall. Everyone turned their heads and immediately rose to their feet.
"Greetings, Chairman Ye!"
"Chairman Ye, what brings you here today?"
"Chairman Ye, please take the seat of honor!"
As Ye Jingtian appeared, the crowd stepped forward to greet him. Ye Jingtian was the richest man in East Sea, and also the father of Ye Mengyan.
Upon hearing their words, Ye Jingtian did not stand on ceremony and directly seated himself at the head of the table.
"Chairman Ye, have you come today for your daughter Ye Mengyan?" Qin Han asked with a smile.
"That's right!" Ye Jingtian nodded. "Principal Qin, for the past three years, it's thanks to the nurturing of East Sea First High that my daughter was able to advance and become a Light Mage."
"Hahaha..." Qin Han laughed heartily. "Chairman Ye, you're too polite! In truth, it has little to do with our school. It's all due to your daughter's exceptional talent!"
"Principal Qin, I heard my daughter has been offered a guaranteed admission to Qingbei University. Is that true?" Ye Jingtian asked, puzzled.
"Yes, that's true!" Qin Han nodded. "However, to secure that guaranteed admission, she must reach Level 8."
"Level 8?"
"That’s quite a challenge!"
"But it’s no matter. If need be, I can pull a few strings," Ye Jingtian said, stroking his chin.
"Chairman Ye, you should have faith in your daughter! With her talent, reaching Level 8 should not be a problem," Qin Han replied, smiling.
"I certainly hope so." Ye Jingtian nodded, then asked curiously, "Principal Qin, I heard that East Sea First High produced a unique hidden class this year. Is that true?"
"It is indeed!" Qin Han said. He sighed softly, "Ah, but unfortunately, the candidate is something of a jinx."
"Uh… a jinx?" At this, Ye Jingtian was taken aback.
When did such a hidden class exist?
"Chairman Ye, don’t misunderstand. His class isn’t 'Jinx,' but 'Curse Master.' The 'Jinx' is merely one of his skills, notorious for being effective only at bad luck!"
"Hidden classes are rare, but not all are powerful. Some are rather lackluster."
"So you needn’t worry, Chairman Ye. This Yang Feng won’t pose any trouble for Mengyan," Qin Han explained.
Upon hearing this, Ye Jingtian was finally reassured.
After all, East Sea First High has limited slots for admission to Qingbei University each year. If this Yang Feng had truly awakened some formidable class, he might indeed create complications for Ye Mengyan.
Meanwhile, Yang Feng had already emerged from the woods and arrived at a swamp.
After nearly twenty hours of battle, his level had risen to 7.
He then opened his personal status panel.
[Name: Yang Feng]
[Class: Curse Master (Unique Hidden Class)]
[Level: 7]
[Stamina: 80]
[Speed: 90]
[Mental Power: 60]
[Equipment: Breezy Boots (increase escape speed)]
[Summoning Space: 60/20 Crow Warriors (currently summoned: 20)]
[Skills: Jinx (Level 1), Poison Tongue (Level 1), Lion’s Roar (Level 3)]
Upon reaching Level 7, Yang Feng’s attributes had improved across the board. His mental power now stood at 60, which meant he could summon sixty Crow Warriors.
However, to summon Level 2 Crow Warriors, his mental power would be consumed at a much higher rate—twenty points for a single Level 2 Crow Warrior.
At present, Yang Feng had summoned twenty Crow Warriors and was advancing into the swamp.
He checked the map and found the swamp was roughly thirty miles from the Novice Village. Most of the area was swamp, inhabited by monsters of Level 5 and above. Even local villagers rarely ventured here.
As he entered the swamp, Yang Feng was soon attacked by a Level 6 crocodile.
A crocodile, hidden in the mire, suddenly lunged forward, jaws wide open, aiming straight for Yang Feng.
Yang Feng was startled.
There was no time to summon Crow Warriors now.
He shouted loudly, "Jinx!"
At once, he activated the Jinx skill. His mouth transformed into a long, sharp beak like that of a crow. With its pointed tip, he pierced straight through the crocodile.
[Defeated Level 6 Crocodile, Experience +60]
After slaying the crocodile, Yang Feng was stunned.
He hadn’t expected the Jinx skill to have such a function. He had thought it was only for cursing, not realizing it could also be used offensively.
"Hahaha..."
"Now, let’s see who can level up faster than me!" Yang Feng laughed aloud.
Then, he summoned thirty Level 2 Crow Warriors. The thirty warriors rampaged through the swamp.
With every monster slain, his experience continued to climb.
"At this rate, I’ll reach Level 8 in just a few hours!"
"Once I reach Level 8, I can leave Novice Village and head to the nearest town, Green Hill."
Green Hill was a small town near East Sea. However, it had been overrun by monsters and transformed into their paradise.
Monsters in Green Hill generally started at Level 8. Without sufficient strength, no one dared approach.
To enter Green Hill, one had to apply to the school. Otherwise, one would be stopped by the guards along the way.
The town was simply too dangerous, and so guards were stationed along the road. Without a pass, entry was impossible.
The sole requirement for entry was to reach Level 8. Anyone below that level venturing into Green Hill was courting death.
[Defeated Level 7 Python, Experience +70]
As Yang Feng pressed deeper into the swamp, Level 7 monsters appeared in increasing numbers.
Novice Village was established specifically for beginners, so its monsters were lower in level and less aggressive. The highest-level monster in the village was Level 7. Above that, monsters were not unheard of, but exceedingly rare.
To further advance, he would need to move to higher-level maps and continue battling monsters.
As Yang Feng ceaselessly fought and leveled up, his experience soared. Now, he was only a step away from Level 8.
"With each level, the experience required to advance increases."
"Now, killing monsters in Novice Village yields pitiful experience, and leveling up quickly is impossible!"
For every level gained, more experience was needed.
Yang Feng had reached Level 7, but to ascend to Level 8 required much more experience. Clearly, the monsters in Novice Village were too low in level; even killing them didn’t grant much experience.
Thus, he now had two choices.
