Chapter Thirty-Two: Teaming Up Together, Ye Mengyan's Astonishment
"Yang Feng, let's not waste any more time. Let's go into the dungeon and hunt monsters together!" Ye Mengyan, unable to wait, stood up and spoke.
"Just one more hour and my cooldown will be over," Yang Feng replied, sitting cross-legged on the ground without moving. Only an hour remained until his cooldown ended. To waste a scroll for just one hour simply wasn’t worth it.
"Alright, then I’ll wait for you," she said. "I’ll rest a bit—call me when your time is up!"
With that, Ye Mengyan lay down to rest. In no time, she drifted into sleep. Sleeping out in the wild was a dangerous thing, after all, but Ye Mengyan slept soundly, knowing Yang Feng was by her side. Though she often felt competitive with him, she trusted his character deeply, so she felt safe entrusting her well-being to him.
She lay there, breathing lightly, fast asleep. Yang Feng shook his head helplessly and gave the raven warriors an order to protect her. Then he himself sat down, closed his eyes, and began to recover his energy.
An hour slipped by. Yang Feng’s dungeon cooldown was finally up.
"Ye Mengyan, wake up," he called.
She opened her eyes and mumbled, "That was quick..." Stretching languidly, she revealed a figure that was, undeniably, quite impressive. At nearly 1.78 meters tall, she was striking and shapely. Yang Feng stood around 1.85 meters, making her only slightly shorter. Together, they made a handsome pair—if only the crowd of raven warriors circling above didn’t make things look a little odd.
After an hour’s rest, she had regained much of her strength, the fatigue on her face gone. Yang Feng formed a party with Ye Mengyan, taking the role of leader. Together, they went to the entrance of the Greenhill Town dungeon. Ye Mengyan produced a basic cooldown scroll, allowing herself to enter the dungeon.
A flash of light enveloped her, and she turned to Yang Feng. "We can go in now," she said.
Without further ado, Yang Feng selected Hard Mode.
Ye Mengyan’s face was incredulous. "Yang Feng, are you sure you didn’t make a mistake?"
But before he could answer, the two of them vanished from where they stood.
When Ye Mengyan opened her eyes again, she was already inside the dungeon. Hearing the monstrous roars outside, she felt a chill of fear. She tossed a detection water orb, revealing the monsters’ attributes.
These monsters were much stronger than those in Normal Mode.
"Yang Feng, this is Hard Mode—are you sure you didn’t mess up?" Her face had changed as she turned to him.
Yang Feng shook his head calmly. "I didn’t make a mistake."
He hadn’t? Ye Mengyan was stunned. Did Yang Feng really intend for the two of them to clear the Hard Mode dungeon? The monsters’ stats were intimidating enough to make her scalp tingle.
"Are you insane, Yang Feng? This will get us both killed!" she shouted.
But Yang Feng ignored her. "Just follow behind me," he said.
"What did you say?" Ye Mengyan was dumbfounded. Before she could react, a Wind Wolf had already set its sights on her. Its bloodthirsty eyes made her feel the threat of death. If Yang Feng hadn’t been there, she would have fled the dungeon immediately.
Just then, Yang Feng summoned his raven warriors—eighty-five of them, swirling densely in the sky.
To Ye Mengyan’s astonishment, Yang Feng strode forward, leading the way. The mass of raven warriors surged into the Greenhill Town dungeon. Yang Feng was clearly accustomed to running dungeons.
The Wind Wolf, upon seeing the raven warriors, gave chase.
"Run with me!" Yang Feng called out, dashing ahead.
Ye Mengyan was utterly bewildered. What on earth was going on? Was it really possible to clear a dungeon this way?
"What are you waiting for? Run!" Yang Feng shouted back at her.
"Just you wait, Yang Feng! I’m not scared!" she replied, chasing after him.
A flock of raven warriors soared ahead, with hundreds of Wind Wolves in pursuit. At the very end of the pack ran Yang Feng and Ye Mengyan.
"What exactly are you planning?" Ye Mengyan asked him as she caught up.
"Clearing the dungeon," Yang Feng replied coolly.
She was speechless at his answer.
After a long corridor, they encountered the Wind Wolf Chieftain. In Hard Mode, this boss was twice as large as its counterpart in Normal Mode.
Ye Mengyan didn’t even need her detection orb to sense the chieftain’s strength. At that moment, the raven warriors flew forward. The Wind Wolf Chieftain wasted no time, unleashing wind blades from its jaws at the raven warriors.
But the ravens ignored the chieftain, flying onward.
"Why aren’t your pets attacking?" Ye Mengyan asked in surprise.
"Be patient. You’ll see soon enough," Yang Feng said, utterly unruffled.
When the pack of ordinary Wind Wolves caught up, the raven warriors suddenly attacked.
A barrage of feathered arrows struck down a Wind Wolf instantly.
At the same time, Yang Feng began casting Fireballs.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of explosions erupted as fireballs crashed down. Ye Mengyan was startled out of her wits. Before she knew what was happening, her experience points began to skyrocket, accompanied by a chorus of notification sounds in her mind.
In less than a minute, her experience had surged by forty percent.
She was dumbfounded—she had never cleared a dungeon like this before. What kind of trick was Yang Feng pulling?
Boom! Boom! Boom!
After a series of blasts, the Wind Wolf Chieftain—once so formidable—collapsed to the ground.
"What? The Wind Wolf Chieftain is dead?" Ye Mengyan was wide-eyed in shock. "That was the dungeon’s mini-boss, and it’s dead already?"
She remembered, not long ago, when their whole party had struggled for half an hour to bring down the chieftain in Normal Mode. Yet now, Yang Feng had practically killed it in an instant.
