Chapter 12: How Awesome!
Chapter Twelve: What an Impressive Trident!
A gigantic trident suddenly tore through the air, slicing through the wind with a roar as it lunged forward.
Having lost Baidu as his means of reconnaissance and early warning, Zhou Yutian was clearly unprepared for such a sneak attack. He still had his eyes closed, savoring the taste of the crab shell, which reminded him of seaweed.
The battle-hardened Se Hou, having faced countless ambushes and sneak attacks, reacted with lightning speed. The moment he heard the rush of air behind his ear, he instinctively rolled away over thirty feet. When he looked back, he saw that Zhou Yutian had yet to notice the danger. A cold dread filled his heart—he had tasted the sting of that trident before. Though it couldn’t kill him outright, it could inflict grievous wounds.
During the prolonged fight between Zhou Yutian and Se Hou, though it seemed they were evenly matched, the truth was Zhou’s attacks were stronger, while Se Hou’s endurance was superior, resulting in a stalemate. Se Hou was well aware of this.
Even his formidable defenses would suffer serious injury from that trident. If Zhou Yutian were struck, he’d likely be maimed, if not killed.
Yet, the trident did not pierce Zhou Yutian—it wasn’t aimed at him at all, but at Se Hou.
With a “puff,” the two tips of the trident sunk deep into the mud, its shaft trembling and humming.
Zhou Yutian broke into a cold sweat at the sudden appearance of the enormous trident before his eyes, dropping the crab shell from his hands. Eyes wide, he exclaimed, “What an impressive trident!”
The Wild Ox King stood a hundred meters away, arms crossed. The ring through his ox nose clinked crisply as he snorted heavily, exhaling two streams of white breath. “You’ve got good taste! State your name! Which tribe are you from? Why are you fraternizing with a wanted criminal?”
It turned out the Wild Ox King had never suspected Zhou Yutian was human. Like his initial assumption about Se Hou, he believed Zhou was a noble-blooded demon capable of taking human form.
To such a being, the Wild Ox King did not wish to offend recklessly. Hence, the trident was first thrust toward Se Hou.
Se Hou had already risen, holding his staff horizontally before him, baring his teeth as he snarled at the Wild Ox King, “Stinky old ox! How dare you ambush your grandpa monkey! Still standing?”
A bull-headed soldier, seeing an opportunity to curry favor with his king, brandished a trident and charged at Se Hou, shouting, “You insolent monkey! How dare you insult the great king! I’ll impale you!”
This bull-headed soldier was sharp-witted. Since the king had taken action, it meant he was confident in subduing these two. Having witnessed the Wild Ox King thrash Se Hou before, he naturally looked down on Se Hou. Even if he couldn’t defeat him alone, the king would surely back him up. So he rushed forward at once.
“Ahh!” The soldier yelled, wildly swinging his trident, disregarding Zhou Yutian entirely, charging straight at Se Hou.
ZI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
