Chapter 112: Enel [First Update]
[24 days. I miss her so much.]
Among the Shandians rushing rapidly toward the shrine, a young girl cried out in alarm, "Wyper! Another priest's voice has vanished."
"Is it that Blue Sea dweller again? He really has done us a great favor. Everyone, full speed toward the shrine! We must reclaim our own land; we cannot afford to lose to an outsider."
At the same time, from the shrine, fifty divine guards led by the other two priests marched out in a grand procession, blocking the Shandians' path. A fierce battle erupted instantly.
...
Shu Mingyuan shook out his knuckles. Priest Ohm had been sent flying by a single punch; the Devil Fruit power that had once transformed him had now faded, leaving him in his normal state. Yet, he looked utterly wretched, his internal organs pulverized by that solitary blow.
"You brat from the Blue Sea, you will surely face the judgment of God!"
Shu Mingyuan appeared indifferent, completely unbothered by Ohm's threat. With a flick of his finger, a blast of Finger Pistol energy shot out, piercing through the center of Ohm's forehead. He glanced toward the shrine and walked on at a leisurely pace. After all, this was a battle between the Shandians and Enel; he had no need to involve himself in this war. As for the survival of the Sky Island, it held no significance to him. If anyone was to blame, it was Enel for turning his focus toward him.
...
"Reject Dial!"
The War Demon Wyper locked his grip around Enel’s throat. The Seastone hidden on his body took effect, and in that instant, Enel lost his lightning powers.
"Stop! Are you insane? If you use a Reject Dial, you’ll die too!" Enel gasped in shock. He had become accustomed to his immense power, but now he felt as vulnerable as an ordinary man.
"Enel, as long as I can kill you, everything will be over. Farewell, you so-called god!"
Wyper let out a cold laugh, and a force ten times more powerful than an Impact Dial surged from his palm. Enel took the brunt of the strike; his chest caved in instantly, and he spewed a mouthful of blood as his body was violently hurled against the ground.
"Did we kill him?"
The few remaining Shandians helped one another up, their eyes filled with hope. Although they had defeated two priests and fifty guards along the way, as long as Enel lived, the lingering terror would always haunt them.
Wyper collapsed onto his knees. Having used the Reject Dial twice in succession, even his warrior’s physique could not withstand the strain. His muscles, bones, and sinews felt as though they were unraveling, and he was clinging to consciousness solely through sheer willpower.
*Thump! Thump!*
Suddenly, a strange phenomenon occurred. A hundred meters away, Enel’s shattered body abruptly erupted with a violent surge of electricity, engulfing a ten-meter radius. A powerful, rhythmic sound began to echo across the heavens. It sounded like... a heartbeat!
Wyper felt a sudden, ominous premonition, one that grew increasingly intense.
"You must be joking... to be hit directly in the vitals by a Reject Dial—it’s impossible to still be alive!"
As if to answer his thoughts, the heartbeat-like rhythm grew frantic. The next second, to Wyper’s horror, Enel’s body levitated and stood up.
"How... how could you possibly still be alive!" Wyper gasped in shock.
"To me, nothing is impossible." Enel gripped his golden staff, wiped the blood from his lips, and looked at Wyper with a gaze filled with pity. "You must be Wyper, the Shandian warrior. To think you’d use something as tedious as Seastone against me. What a pity; you were so close to killing me, but you will never have such an opportunity again."
"You are indeed strong. To be able to stand after using a Reject Dial twice with a mortal body is impressive, but you chose the wrong opponent."
"You should know by now that the meager power you wield is nothing to me; it is utterly meaningless. I am God! How could a mere mortal ever kill a god?"
Wyper let out a desperate cry, dragging his broken body as he charged at Enel once more. He hungered for victory; even if it cost him his life, he would unleash one last Reject Dial on Enel’s vitals!
"It’s useless, you Shandian savage. Now that I know your trump card, I will not make the same mistake twice."
Enel transformed into a bolt of lightning, flashing in front of Wyper without warning. He spun his golden staff and slammed it into Wyper with brutal force. The strike carried the power of electricity, sending Wyper flying.
"30 Million Volts: Thunder Bird!"
The golden staff struck the drums on his back, unleashing endless electricity that morphed into a massive, ten-zhang-tall thunder bird, which roared toward the remaining Shandians. The ground turned charred black in the bird's wake. The survivors screamed within the thunderstorm; they tried to flee, but how could they outrun lightning? In a single strike, the Shandian forces, who had fought so hard to reach this place, were wiped out—save for the War Demon Wyper.
"You... you bastard!" Wyper’s eyes were bloodshot. Watching his kin perish one by one, he felt a heart-wrenching pain that made him wish he could tear Enel to pieces!
"Haha, a bastard? Dust to dust, earth to earth; everyone has their own destination. I am merely acting as a god arranging the natural order. I am simply observing the basic laws of nature!" Enel chuckled. "Since they have all departed, it is now your turn, Wyper. Although you have Seastone, as long as you don't touch me, it doesn't matter, does it?"
"30 Million Volts: Thunder Beast!"
*Thump!*
He struck the drum on his left shoulder. Lightning exploded, and a ferocious, massive thunder wolf surged out. Surrounded by sparkling electric light, it reached Wyper in the blink of an eye and lunged with jaws agape.
Wyper, already critically wounded and with no way to dodge, was bathed in the electric current until he was scorched black. His eyes dulled, and he finally collapsed heavily to the ground. The strength he had taken such pride in was nothing but fragile in the face of Enel!
"Haha, it is all over. Sky Island, perish alongside the Shandians!"
Enel laughed maniacally. Through his Mantra, he perceived that apart from himself, there was no sound left in the sacred land of Upper Yard. He raised his hands high, his body slowly floating into the sky, as countless bolts of electricity surged from him and poured into a mountain range behind him. There, golden rails lined the path, and currents of electricity flowed through them. Dozens of seconds later, a thunderous roar echoed across the sky. It was as if a colossal machine was rising from the valley.
Enel laughed wildly; he had waited too long for this day, and at last, it had arrived.
He glanced casually into the distance and suddenly saw a figure walking toward him at a leisurely pace—yet, under the perception of his Mantra, there was clearly no one there.
PS: [Some readers have commented that this arc in the Sky Island is not well-written. Well, once this part is finished, I will not follow the original plot. The protagonist has his own path, and following Oda's settings is pointless! The upcoming plot will be quite exciting, so please look forward to it! Please support me!]
