The morning sunlight filtered through the inn’s window, casting a gentle glow on the weary yet resolute faces of Liu Kaixin, Taoist Xuan Yi, and Princess Huo Li. The three sat around a table, silently examining the wounds they bore, their hearts heavy with concern. Though they had successfully repelled the black-clad assailants in last night’s fierce battle, the encounter had only deepened their awareness of the enemy’s formidable power and peril.
“What secret does this Demon God Talisman truly conceal? Why does it attract such a multitude of evil forces coveting it?” Liu Kaixin furrowed his brow, his mind swirling with questions.
Taoist Xuan Yi sighed softly. “The origins of the Demon God Talisman are shrouded in mystery. It is said to be connected to an ancient Demon God. Whoever wields it may command a power capable of overturning the world.”
Princess Huo Li’s eyes betrayed her worry. “If such immense power falls into the hands of darkness, the consequences would be unimaginable. We must find a way to unravel the talisman’s secrets swiftly, or we cannot truly stop them.”
Just as the three were deliberating their next move, the inn’s door was suddenly pushed open. An elderly man with white hair entered. Clad in a worn, long robe and leaning on a cane, his eyes gleamed with profound wisdom.
“Are you seeking the secrets of the Demon God Talisman?” His voice was low and hoarse, yet it echoed like a great bell in their ears.
Liu Kaixin and the others stared at the old man, wariness brewing in their hearts. Liu Kaixin rose, gripping his long blade tightly. “Who are you? How do you know of us?”
The old man smiled faintly. “No need for alarm. I bear no ill will. I am but a traveler passing through, who happened to overhear your conversation. I know a bit about the Demon God Talisman, and perhaps I can help ease your doubts.”
Taoist Xuan Yi scrutinized the old man, weighing the truth of his words. After a moment, he said, “If that is so, please share your knowledge with us, honored sir.”
The old man slowly approached the table and sat down. He glanced at the three, then spoke: “The secret of the Demon God Talisman is tied to an ancient ruin located in the far northern lands—an expanse perpetually blanketed by ice and snow, fraught with peril. Only there can you find the key to unlocking the talisman’s mystery.”
A spark of excitement flashed in Liu Kaixin’s eyes. “Truly? Then let us set out at once!”
The old man shook his head. “It is not so simple. The far north is not only harsh in environment but guarded by powerful magical beasts. Moreover, the ruin itself is riddled with countless traps and mechanisms. Reckless entry will mean certain death.”
Princess Huo Li asked, “What then should we do? Is there no other way?”
From his bosom, the old man produced a yellowed map and spread it on the table. “This map was drawn during my youthful explorations of the far north. It marks some of the hazardous zones and possible safe routes. Though incomplete, it may prove useful to you.”
Liu Kaixin and the others studied the map, hope rising in their hearts. Taoist Xuan Yi bowed gratefully. “Thank you, honored sir, for your assistance. Is there any further advice you might offer?”
The old man pondered briefly. “On your journey north, you will pass through a small town. There dwells a peculiar man named Mo Feng, skilled in mechanisms and arcane lore. He may provide you with methods to counter the traps within the ruin.”
Liu Kaixin carefully folded the map. “Thank you for the warning, honored sir. We shall seek out Mo Feng.”

The old man nodded solemnly. “The path to the far north is fraught with danger. You must be cautious and support one another. Only through unity can you overcome the trials ahead.”
After bidding the old man farewell, Liu Kaixin, Taoist Xuan Yi, and Princess Huo Li began packing their belongings, preparing to embark on their journey to the far north. They knew well the challenges and dangers awaiting them, but for the sake of protecting the Demon God Talisman and preserving peace in the world, they felt no fear.
Leaving the town behind, they traveled northward, traversing dense forests and scaling steep mountains, overcoming numerous hardships. At last, they arrived at the small town the old man had mentioned.
Though small, the town exuded an air of mystery. The streets were sparsely populated; the few passersby cast wary glances. The trio entered a tavern, hoping to inquire about Mo Feng.
The tavern was thick with the scent of strong liquor, and a few patrons murmured quietly in a corner. Liu Kaixin approached the counter and asked the owner, “Sir, do you know where Master Mo Feng lives?”
The owner looked them over with a flicker of suspicion. “Why are you seeking Mo Feng? He is no ordinary man and rarely sees outsiders.”
Taoist Xuan Yi stepped forward. “We have urgent matters to discuss with him. Please tell us where we might find him.” He placed a silver ingot on the counter.
Greed flickered in the owner’s eyes as he pocketed the silver. “Mo Feng lives east of town, in a solitary little courtyard. But beware—his temper is strange. Don’t provoke him.”
Thanking the owner, the group headed east and soon found Mo Feng’s courtyard. The gate was tightly closed, and a mysterious aura hung about the place.
Liu Kaixin knocked firmly. “Is Master Mo Feng home? We have urgent business to discuss.”
After a long silence, the door creaked open. A slender, gaunt man appeared, his sharp eyes gleaming with intensity. He regarded them coldly. “What do you want with me?”
Liu Kaixin spoke earnestly. “Master Mo Feng, we come from afar, seeking to venture into the ancient ruin in the far north. We have heard of your mastery over mechanisms and arcane knowledge, and we hope you can aid us.”
Surprise flickered in Mo Feng’s gaze. “The ruins in the far north? That is no place for the faint of heart. Why do you wish to go there?”
Princess Huo Li stepped forward and briefly explained the matter of the Demon God Talisman. Mo Feng fell silent for a moment before saying, “I see. The secret of the talisman is indeed connected to that ruin. Since you seek to protect the world’s peace, I will lend you my aid.”
Mo Feng invited them inside to a room filled with strange contraptions and shelves of books. He took down a thick tome from the shelf, flipped through several pages, and said, “This contains my years of study on mechanisms, detailing common traps and methods to disarm them. Take it—it may prove useful.”
Liu Kaixin accepted the book gratefully. “Thank you, Master Mo Feng. We shall never forget your kindness.”
Mo Feng waved them off. “No thanks needed. I hope you can unravel the talisman’s secret and thwart the plans of the darkness.”

They stayed at Mo Feng’s courtyard for a day, learning much about mechanisms and the ruins. Mo Feng shared his knowledge without reserve, enriching their understanding greatly.
At dawn the next day, Liu Kaixin, Taoist Xuan Yi, and Princess Huo Li bid farewell to Mo Feng and resumed their journey northward. Bearing his blessings and their own resolve, they felt confident. Yet, they were unaware that harsher trials awaited them ahead.
After days of arduous travel, they finally reached the edge of the far northern lands. Before them stretched a boundless white world, wind howling and snow swirling. They drew a deep breath and stepped into this icy realm of unknown dangers.
Following the map’s marked route with care, they evaded many hidden traps and magical beasts lurking beneath the snow. But as they ventured deeper, the threats multiplied.
One day, while crossing an icy plain, a low, guttural roar shattered the silence. Alarmed, they turned to see a massive ice bear charging from the depths of the plain. Its body was encrusted with thick ice, eyes gleaming fiercely.
“Beware! This is the ice plain’s overlord—the Ice Soul Bear!” Taoist Xuan Yi shouted.
Liu Kaixin gripped his long blade tightly, his spiritual energy surging. “Stay alert! This beast is no ordinary foe.”
The Ice Soul Bear roared and swiped a giant paw, sending a blast of frigid wind toward Liu Kaixin. He dodged swiftly and unleashed his “Gate-Opening Blade” technique, a flash of steel streaking toward the beast.
The bear blocked with ease, its immense strength forcing Liu Kaixin to stagger back. Seeing this, Princess Huo Li unleashed elven magic—rays of green light shooting at the bear.
Cracks appeared in the bear’s icy armor from the spells. Enraged, it turned to charge at the princess. Taoist Xuan Yi wielded his Taoist whisk, casting spells to block the attack.
Seizing the moment, Liu Kaixin gathered his strength and unleashed “Unity of All Phenomena,” a powerful assault against the bear. Together, their combined efforts overwhelmed the creature, which finally collapsed onto the ice.
Relieved, they caught their breath, but before they could rest, the icy plain began to tremble unnervingly.
“Something’s coming!” Liu Kaixin warned.
Suddenly, countless fissures tore open in the ice, and enormous ice serpents slithered forth. Their bodies radiated chilling cold as they rapidly advanced on Liu Kaixin and his companions.
Once again, they were plunged into peril. Could they overcome these serpents and press onward? And what secrets and dangers awaited within that mysterious ruin? All remained unknown...
