Chapter 2: The Betraying Ex-Girlfriend
Su Tian clenched his fists, his eyes bloodshot, filled with overwhelming murderous intent and hostility. Even Li Hongmei, sitting nearby, felt an inexplicable chill permeate her body.
"What about Xue Xue? Has she not come to help you at all these years? She is, after all, the future daughter-in-law of our Su family!" Su Tian suddenly thought of his girlfriend and hurriedly asked.
"Xue Xue?" Li Hongmei sighed. "Ever since you had your accident, she hasn't set foot in our home again. And that 1.5 million in compensation..."
"That 1.5 million?" Su Tian sensed there was more to the story and anxiously grabbed his mother’s hand. "Does that compensation have something to do with her? Mom, don't be afraid, tell me!"
"That 1.5 million in compensation was only paid because she identified you as the assailant who had beaten the Qin family member for no reason!" Li Hongmei finally could no longer hold it in and blurted it out in one breath.
"What?" Hearing this, Su Tian felt as if he had been struck by lightning. If it hadn't been for his attempt to save Xue Xue, he never would have ended up in prison. He never imagined that this vicious woman would have framed him as the attacker after he was imprisoned! Su Tian gritted his teeth, his grip so tight that his nails dug into his palms, drawing blood.
At that moment, the door was slammed violently. "Old woman, open the door now, or we’ll beat you up when we get in!"
Hearing the aggressive pounding, Li Hongmei began to tremble; it was clear she was terrified. "Mom, don't be afraid. Go rest in the inner room; I’ll handle these people." Su Tian helped his mother into the bedroom before going to unlock the door.
"What’s going on? Who are you? Where is that old woman from the Su family?" one of the men shouted. "Tell her to come out and pay her debts, or we’ll break her arms and legs and make her a cripple..."
Before he could finish, *swish!* A swift punch, sharp as a knife, landed directly on the man's face. Su Tian did not hold back at all, knocking out all of the man's teeth with a single strike. The man let out an inhuman scream as he was sent flying. *Boom!*
"Who the hell are you!" The remaining thugs, seeing their leader struck down, immediately turned vicious, rushing forward with iron pipes and wooden clubs. Su Tian grabbed one of the thugs by the head and smashed it hard against the wall.
One hit, two hits! Both of their nasal bones were crushed inward, and they screamed in agony. It was a fate worse than death.
"Do you have the guts to repeat what you just said? You dare to insult my mother—who gave you the courage?" Facing the thugs who had humiliated his mother, Su Tian looked like a blood-drenched Asura emerging from hell, his eyes burning red as he stared at the remaining two.
*Drip, drip.* A pale yellow liquid pooled from their pant legs. The remaining two thugs were so terrified they didn't even dare to run, standing like wooden puppets. It wasn't until Su Tian grabbed them by their collars that they finally shrieked: "D-don't come any closer! If you kill someone, the law will punish you!"
*Smack!* A resounding slap landed across a face. Su Tian said coldly, "What if I do?" The two thugs were so terrified they wet themselves, trembling uncontrollably. Disgusted by the pool of liquid at their feet, Su Tian released them and shoved them away.
"Get lost! Tell your master behind this that if he dares to bully my mother, his days are numbered. I, Su Tian, have said it!" With that, the group of thugs scrambled away, dragging their injured companions out the door in a pathetic retreat.
"Mom, are you okay? They’ve all gone." Once they were gone, Su Tian opened the bedroom door and approached his mother, who was curled up in the corner. Li Hongmei was shaking all over, her expression filled with fear and dread. It took a long time for her to calm down.
"As long as they're gone! As long as they're gone!" Li Hongmei finally settled down, holding Su Tian's hand as tears streamed down her face. "Since your father passed away, these thugs have been coming to collect debts every day. Your father and I spent four years paying off that 1.5 million in medical bills and still haven't finished. Now that you're finally home, please, don't provoke them anymore. Let's just live a quiet life..."
"So those people were loan sharks?" Seeing his mother's terrified state, tears filled Su Tian's eyes. "Mom, don't worry. They will never come looking for you again, and from now on, I will make sure you live a good life!" Su Tian hugged his mother, but the raging fire in his eyes did not diminish in the slightest.
The Qin family! Xue Xue! And those thugs who threatened my mother! I will make you pay with blood, I swear it...
After comforting his mother, Su Tian’s first thought was to heal her eyes. In the Black Prison, he had learned an acupuncture technique called the "Ghost Gate Acupuncture," which used Qi to form needles, targeting critical acupoints. He immediately applied it, allowing his mother, who had been blind for years, to vaguely see her surroundings.
"Child, what is happening? It seems like I can suddenly see the light?"
"Mom, your blindness was caused by blocked blood vessels. Now that I am treating you, I believe you will regain your sight completely before long."
Su Tian put his mother on his back, planning to take her to the hospital for follow-up treatment and to admit her. The old house here was too unsafe, and he feared for her safety if those thugs returned while he was away. Hospitalization was the best plan.
Following the memory of the streets, Su Tian headed toward the best city hospital in Jiangcheng. Within minutes, he reached the entrance. Outside the hospital, there was a large patch of greenery where a beautiful young girl was leisurely sunning her grandfather. Su Tian walked past them, catching a glimpse of the white-haired old man, before heading into the hospital.
Inside, the scent of herbal medicine filled the lobby. Su Tian found a window to ask about the admission process. The nurse on duty was chatting and eating sunflower seeds with a colleague; she looked at Su Tian, who was carrying a woman dressed like a beggar, with disdain. "Sir, you can't just walk in and ask for admission. You need to go to the outpatient department to register first..."
She pointed to another window. The process was exhausting, forcing Su Tian to run back and forth. He could only leave his mother on a hallway bench while he waited in line to register. Being disconnected from the outside world for five years made everything feel strange and troublesome.
"Move! Everyone, get out of the way!" Suddenly, a man carrying a steaming pot of medicine ran out from the hallway.
"Su Tian, my child, where are you?" At that moment, Su Tian thought he heard his mother calling out.
*Crash!* The man carrying the medicine stumbled and fell to the ground, spilling the pot and the herbs everywhere. The man was panicked and furious. He stood up and roared at the old woman nearby, "Damn it, are you blind? I’m carrying life-saving medicine and you dare to block my way!" He raised his arm to strike the old woman.
"Stop!"
