After Su Tian finished paying, he received the deed to his land. As he was about to leave, he glanced once more at Qin Haitian. Tang Yichen, on the other hand, watched Su Tian with great interest. Yet, Su Tian’s smooth payment and his calm demeanor, especially for someone attending such an event for the first time, left Chen Ruoxi utterly stunned.

Once outside, Su Tian asked Chen Ping quietly, “Did you notice who took that strange statue?”

Chen Ping clicked his tongue and thought carefully. “I think it was someone from the Bai family.”

The Bai family? Just as they were about to leave, footsteps sounded behind them. Turning around, they saw Bai Ningbing approaching with a group, holding a box in her hands.

Bai Ningbing greeted Chen Ruoxi and Chen Ping politely. Chen Ruoxi wondered why Bai Ningbing, from one of the four great families, would know Su Tian so well.

“Brother Su, this is the statue you wanted. The Qin family was deliberately targeting you; since you didn’t want it, they didn’t either. I managed to bid it for you and am giving it to you.”

Su Tian understood perfectly well that Bai Ningbing was trying to curry favor. Could he refuse something handed to him? Adhering to the principle of not taking unwanted favors, he gave Long Aotian a look. Long Aotian immediately stepped forward to take the box, cheekily opening it and saying, “What is this ugly thing? Is this what they auctioned? It’s not even as nice as the antique spittoon my old man left me.”

Bai Ningbing’s face grew slightly embarrassed. “Brother Su, thank you for what you did for my grandfather. Without you, he might not have made it. You are a great benefactor to the Bai family. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”

Honestly, Su Tian didn’t feel that the Bai family owed him anything. After all, the old man had taught him medicine so he could heal and save lives, not to gain anything else.

“It was nothing. Besides, you’ve been taking care of my mother recently. I’ve been busy. How is she doing?”

Bai Ningbing smiled. “Auntie is doing well, don’t worry. If you’re busy, I can take care of her.”

Listening to their conversation, Chen Ruoxi realized two things. First, the Bai family patriarch’s illness wasn’t recent. Bai Ningbing had sought every top healer but none could cure him. Yet Su Tian had succeeded, proving his exceptional medical skill.

“Brother Su, my grandfather might still need some follow-up treatment. Would you prefer to prescribe medicine or do some acupuncture?”

The old man’s condition was indeed fragile and required consolidation.

“Once I finish my current work, I’ll get in touch with you.”

Bai Ningbing agreed. Their conversation caught Chen Ruoxi’s attention, sparking an idea. After all, her reason for coming with Chen Ping was to help her close friend Yang Zhuyun at the Divine Healer Hall.

The hall was in decline, and the family had arranged for Yang Zhuyun to marry the young master of the Wang family. However, this young master was a notorious playboy, frequenting bars and nightclubs, having toyed with countless women. More importantly, rumors said that due to his promiscuity, he had contracted a disease—an unstated but obvious illness.

Knowing that Chen Ping was a military elite, Chen Ruoxi hoped he could intervene and at least teach the spoiled Wang young master a lesson. Unexpectedly, there was a surprising gain from the situation.

“Um… Brother Su, I see you’re still busy, so I’ll leave first. Call me if you need anything.”

With that, Bai Ningbing left promptly, clearly a woman with good judgment.

Chen Ruoxi quickly approached Su Tian. “You know medicine? I happen to know an uncle I want you to meet.”

Su Tian considered it. He had already met Qin Haitian and dealt with him, even offending him. Now Qin Haitian was surely investigating him. For the time being, he would stay safe.

“No problem.”

Chen Ping had helped Su Tian get into the auction, so Su Tian owed him a favor. Since Chen Ruoxi requested it, he would oblige.

Chen Ruoxi led Su Tian to her sports car and opened the door. “Get in.”

The car was ostentatiously flashy, and Su Tian was a bit unaccustomed.

Chen Ping hesitated. “Sis! What about me?”

Chen Ruoxi waved him off. “Go visit your Aunt Xiao Zhu’s clinic.”

Then she revved the engine and sped off.

Long Aotian patted Chen Ping on the shoulder. “Is my big brother really ignoring me now? How much was that thing worth? Why didn’t he take it?”

Chen Ping sighed. “That just shows Brother Su trusts you, knowing you won’t run off with his stuff. That thing is worth millions.”

“...Let’s go then.”

Chen Ping tried to catch up with Chen Ruoxi but she was too fast. He eventually gave up.

Chen Ruoxi closed the car’s convertible top, and the cabin fell silent.

“Miss Chen, if you want my help, shouldn’t you tell me what’s going on? I can’t help if I don’t know anything.”

Chen Ruoxi smiled. “Yang Dongqing, you know him? Yang Lao is a nationally renowned divine healer. But... as you know, traditional Chinese medicine has declined. Yang Lao borrowed heavily from some aristocratic families...”

That was enough explanation.

Su Tian said nothing.

Chen Ruoxi added, “Since you know acupuncture and Yang Lao does too, maybe if you two meet, you could become lifelong friends.”

What Chen Ruoxi didn’t know was that Su Tian had already crossed paths with Yang Dongqing long ago. At first, Su Tian had thought someone so capable, with status and wealth, couldn’t have fallen into such dire straits.

Soon, they arrived at the Divine Healer Hall’s entrance.

The facade was dilapidated, smeared with paint and broken pieces everywhere. A stranger might think it was the entrance to a junkyard.

Impossible, right?

Judging from Su Tian’s expression, Chen Ruoxi knew what he was thinking.

“Ahem, sorry, it’s just here.”

“Okay.”

Just as they were about to step inside, Long Aotian and Chen Ping arrived as well. Two luxury cars parked outside the hall looked completely out of place.

“Wait, Brother Su!”

Su Tian turned as Chen Ping caught up, pulling him aside. “Brother Su, the Yang family’s affairs are complicated, involving many clans. Why is my sister bringing you here?”

Su Tian glanced at Chen Ruoxi. “When the enemy advances, we counter. When water rises, we build a dam. The Chen family helped me; this is my way of repaying you, even if reluctantly.”
