"Nothing much, just that I realized, my dear wife, you are truly beautiful and truly adorable!"

Being complimented on her appearance in such a solemn manner, Luo Yunhe’s cheeks instantly flushed a deep crimson, her ears turning red along with them. She felt a bit awkward as she continued to eat.

Back in the 21st century, she had certainly been striking and had attracted many admirers, but she had been so devoted to her family’s brewing business that she had never once dated.

Having arrived in this ancient era, the first man she encountered was Su Jingxuan. To make matters more intense, he was exceptionally handsome. Hearing him praise her appearance to her face now made her cheeks burn, and even her heart skipped a beat.

Su Jingxuan watched her blushing face, his own heart pounding erratically, and he quickly looked away. This little wife of his was too beautiful; he feared that if he looked any longer, he would lose all self-control. After all, he was merely a cripple, and he didn't want her to feel trapped or regretful should she ever change her mind.

Luo Yunhe hurried through her meal, tidied up, and kept the remaining soup warm over a low fire on the stove. Once she had cleaned up, she returned to the room. However, when it came time to get into bed, she moved with hesitant, lingering steps, acting like a shy young woman.

Su Jingxuan’s heart was also thundering in his chest, yet he feigned composure. "What exactly happened today?" he asked.

At the mention of the day's events, it was as if a floodgate had opened. Luo Yunhe recounted everything to Su Jingxuan in detail, including how she had tricked the others out of their silver to purchase that vast stretch of barren land.

Su Jingxuan’s eyes darkened slightly as he listened, but he was surprised to hear how wittily she had turned the tables on the others, secured the money, and bought that expanse of land.

"Wife, it is said that nothing can grow on that barren land. Why would you buy such a large plot?"

"Su Jingxuan, let me tell you, I am a master brewer. Buying that land is, of course, for the purpose of making fine wine! Plus, there are many wild grapevines there. That is the rarest ingredient. If I cultivate them well, I will be able to brew even better wine in the future and sell it for a higher price. When that time comes, I’ll be the one to support you!"

Luo Yunhe spoke excitedly, her eyes sparkling with confidence. She envisioned the scene of herself crafting delicious spirits, her heart filled with expectation and longing.

However, Su Jingxuan was not entirely focused on her plan; instead, his attention was drawn to her final remark. He asked in confusion, "You... you are going to support me?"

Luo Yunhe turned to face him upon hearing this. With a firm expression, she replied earnestly, "Yes! You are my husband, after all! Once I become successful, it is only natural that I support you. I want to make you the happiest man alive!"

There was a sense of resolve and duty in her gaze, as if she could already see her future success. She hoped that through her own efforts, she could bring Su Jingxuan happiness and peace. She seemed to envision the moment of her success—a home filled with precious treasures and a life of abundance and comfort. She imagined the silver piling up like mountains, a never-ending source of family wealth.

"I will earn a great deal of money in the future, and we will live a wonderful life," she continued, her tone brimming with beautiful expectations for the future.

Su Jingxuan listened quietly, a surge of warmth filling his heart. He realized that Luo Yunhe not only had her own dreams but was also willing to share this success and happiness with him. He smiled as he looked at her and said gently, "I believe you will certainly be able to do it."

Hearing his encouragement, Luo Yunhe felt her confidence grow even stronger. She knew that as long as she had Su Jingxuan’s support, she could overcome any obstacle. In the darkness, they held hands, and a sense of happiness from the future spread silently between them.

Because the two of them shared their hearts until late into the night, they slept in and woke up very late the next morning. They were stirred awake by a series of noisy, clamorous sounds.

When Su Jingxuan woke, he quickly put on his clothes. The commotion outside was far too loud, accompanied by the sound of things being smashed, and he was deeply worried.

"Husband, what happened?"

"Wife, go back to sleep. Don't worry about what’s happening outside!"

After saying this anxiously, Su Jingxuan rushed out.

The cripple from the neighboring village had arrived early in the morning with a group of men. Upon entering, they had immediately begun smashing everything in the living room without a word. Su Shan and Madam Su Chen were both startled. When they rushed out, they saw the man from the neighboring village looking fierce, his companions brandishing clubs.

"Smash it all!" the cripple commanded.

"Stop!" Su Shan shouted, watching the scene in fury.

"Cripple, what do you think you’re doing? I’m warning you, stop running wild in my house! If you keep this up, don't blame me for being unkind!" Madam Su Chen glared at him viciously.

"Madam Su Chen, stop playing dumb with me! You were the one who came to my house and told me you wanted to sell me a wife. How can you deny it now that you’ve already taken the money?"

Madam Su Chen, feeling guilty, saw her expression turn ugly, and her voice dropped to a whisper. "I... I... what are you talking about? I didn't take your money! Whoever you gave your money to is who you should talk to; don't try to frame me here! I haven't even settled the score with you for what happened yesterday!"

"Madam Su Chen, quit the act! Either pay me back—double—or I’m taking your daughter with me!"

Su Shan and Madam Su Chen, seeing that the men were all armed with clubs, were so terrified they dared not even breathe.

When Su Ruyi heard the sounds of smashing, she hid in her room, afraid to come out. The sight of the cripple reminded her of what had happened the previous day, and her heart was filled with terror. When she heard him threaten to take her away, her face filled with horror, and unable to bear it any longer, she rushed out of the room.

"Mother, I don't want to marry him! Father..." Su Ruyi bolted between them, hiding fearfully behind their backs.

"Daughter, don't be afraid. Mother won't let him take you!"

"Ruyi, dear, come home with me. I will treat you well, let you eat and drink the best, and I won't let you down. Just come with me!" The cripple’s face lit up with surprise when he saw Su Ruyi. This young girl was quite pretty; she would be more than enough to take home as a wife.

"I won't! Don't you dare! Even if I die, I will never marry you!" Su Ruyi said angrily before shrinking back again.

"Cripple, stop setting your sights on my daughter!" Madam Su Chen said, her shifty eyes darting around as if she had suddenly thought of something.
