Chapter 13: Caught Sneaking a Bite!
Su Chen, clutching a sickle, had just rushed to the door of Luo Yunhe’s room. Before the sharp words could spill from her mouth, Luo Yunhe seemed to sense her presence and immediately thrust every stick she had right into Su Chen’s face.
Startled, Su Chen instinctively took a step back.
“I’m warning you, it’s best you don’t come looking for trouble. Otherwise, what happened yesterday will happen again today. You don’t want us to break ties with you, do you?”
“You—you little bitch! I’m the one in charge in this family, not you. You shirk your chores and act all lazy—do you think you can just live here eating and doing nothing?”
“Su Chen, do you think I’m giving you face?” Luo Yunhe narrowed her eyes.
Seeing Luo Yunhe about to strike again, Su Chen reconsidered her position. Fighting this young girl alone was hopeless. She knew well that a wise man never suffers a loss unnecessarily.
“Alright, alright, Luo Yunhe, just wait for me!” Su Chen spat out a threat and stormed off.
Once Su Chen had left, Luo Yunhe slammed the door shut with a decisive bang, showing no courtesy.
“What kind of person is that!” Back inside, she took out Su Jingxuan’s brush, ink, paper, and inkstone and began sketching the terrain she had just observed.
“System, tell me, if I were to buy this piece of land, how much would it cost?”
[Host, I don’t know that!]
“If I start brewing liquor again, what do you think?” Luo Yunhe had already made up her mind. No matter how much Su Jingxuan earned, he had family members who drained his resources. Family was family, and when they asked for money, he couldn’t refuse. The only solution was to earn money herself.
[That’s doable, host. I support you!]
“Words of support won’t help. Come on, give me something practical. Can’t you drop some good items for me?” Luo Yunhe muttered.
The system seemed to consider her request but remained silent for a long while.
Luo Yunhe continued to write and draw on the paper until she finally produced a simple plan.
Looking outside, it was nearly noon. The Su family members had disappeared without a trace.
Rubbing her growling stomach, Luo Yunhe got up and rummaged through the kitchen cabinets, finding rice, flour, eggs, vegetables, and steamed buns.
Though she had never cooked before as a wealthy young lady, these ingredients posed no challenge for her.
She happily set to work.
Meanwhile, Su Ruyi and Xiao Qing, both bruised and limping, emerged from the wasteland carrying vegetables.
“Damn that little bitch! How dare she ambush us!” Su Ruyi cursed in fury.
Xiao Qing was equally angry. “Yeah, that woman is so sly, taking advantage of our distraction to attack!”
As they walked, they vented their grievances, filled with resentment and dissatisfaction.
“What do we do? My face is swollen. Today, we took a real beating!” Su Ruyi touched her swollen cheek, pained.
Xiao Qing looked at her own wounds and sighed helplessly, “It’s all that little bitch’s fault—she was ruthless!”
“It’s your fault for not listening to me. See what’s happened now?” Su Ruyi snapped angrily at Xiao Qing.
Xiao Qing felt deeply wronged and a little scared. Luo Yunhe’s ferocity left a deep impression on her.
“How was I supposed to know she’d suddenly attack? And she’s so strong—I’m no match for her...” She shivered recalling how Luo Yunhe had pinned her underwater, a chilling fear rising within her.
Her dread of Luo Yunhe grew stronger; this woman was not only cunning but also possessed overwhelming strength that was impossible to resist.
“Hmph, next time we meet her, we have to be more careful! We can’t let her get away with it again!” Su Ruyi gritted her teeth.
Xiao Qing nodded in agreement but felt uneasy inside. She wasn’t sure if she could avoid being hurt again next time.
As the two limped toward the village, they collided headlong with Su Chen.
“Mother...” Su Ruyi cried out, as if seeing a savior, tears streaming as she called for help.
“What’s wrong, my dear? Who hit you? Tell me and I promise I won’t let them off!” Su Chen’s eyes blazed with a nameless fury as she scanned her daughter from head to toe.
“Who else could it be? That fool! I kindly took him out for a walk to show him the village, and she attacked me. Look at all these injuries!” Su Ruyi sobbed, growing more distressed with each word.
“That shameless little bitch! She’s gone too far!” Su Chen’s sly eyes darted around. After a moment, she leaned close to Su Ruyi’s ear and whispered.
“Mother, your plan is brilliant! I’m going now!” Su Ruyi’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, already envisioning Luo Yunhe’s miserable fate.
“Here, take this! Go quickly and don’t dawdle!” Su Chen pressed some copper coins into her hand.
“Xiao Qing, come with me!” Su Ruyi called out, then hastened away with Xiao Qing.
“You little bitch! If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll really think I’m easy to bully!” Su Chen’s cunning eyes gleamed with wicked intent.
However, when she spotted a figure ahead, her expression shifted. She quickened her pace and soon caught up.
After Luo Yunhe had brought the food to the table and just finished frying the eggs to place in a bowl, ready to eat, she heard a loud bang as the door was forcefully pushed open.
It was Su Chen, carrying a large basket filled with pig fodder on her shoulder. Upon entering, the pungent aroma of cooking filled her nostrils, and she immediately turned toward the kitchen.
There, Su Chen saw Luo Yunhe holding a bowl of rice, chopsticks in hand, lifting a white object to her mouth.
When she realized it was an egg, Su Chen’s face flushed with anger, veins bulging on her forehead.
That egg! She usually couldn’t bear to throw away even the shells, saving them to feed the chickens in hopes they’d lay more eggs.
But now, Luo Yunhe dared to steal and eat an egg!
A sharp pang struck Su Chen’s heart, and she couldn’t help but curse loudly, “You damn little bitch! How dare you shamelessly steal eggs! Who do you think you are?” Setting down the basket, she strode angrily toward the kitchen.
Luo Yunhe hadn’t expected Su Chen to return just then and catch her about to eat the egg.
For a fleeting moment, she felt guilty.
