Chapter 118: Tell Your Immortal King Father to Come and Pay the Ransom

Wu Yun was about to unleash the black energy swirling within him when a sudden gleam caught his eye. Atop the short-horned black horse’s head, a unicorn horn ignited, dispersing the cobwebs and shattering the confining array that had just invaded his soul. Moreover, it devoured the spider silk entangling Jia Youke, savoring a taste even more exquisite than immortal herbs.
Before Jia Youke could express his gratitude, the shadow of the artifact spirit beside him was dumbfounded and asked, “A unicorn horned black horse? In black?”
Wu Yun nodded. The artifact spirit remained stunned as piercing screams echoed from above. The massive Boro spiders, each like a mountain, plummeted from the surrounding metallic walls. As they landed, they were struck by backlash and died, their bodies rotting and decomposing into three smaller Boros that scattered in all directions.
“The waters of Baihua Valley run deep,” Wu Yun remarked, while Jia Youke remained puzzled. The artifact spirit replied knowingly, “Indeed. Upon reaching the Profound Immortal realm, mutual vigilance is the norm. Bai Wan, because of these Boros, bred their natural enemy—the unicorn horned black horse—to avoid falling behind in future confrontations.”
With the aerial suppression lifted, Wu Yun approached the shimmering light and saw the towering Tai Feng, ten zhang tall, motionless with closed eyes and a tense body.
Even at this stage, a layer of suppression remained. Tai Feng’s life-bound artifact, a mid-level fourth-grade immortal artifact called the Glazed Cauldron, enveloped his body, shielding him from all interference.
As Wu Yun drew near, Tai Feng’s spiritual shadow appeared, snarling fiercely, “You overstep your bounds! When I awaken, I shall reincarnate your soul into a beast, forever enslaving you!”
Tai Feng’s residual spirit tried to intimidate, but Wu Yun smiled and said, “If you have no other means, I can just break in!”
Upon hearing this, Tai Feng’s spirit condensed with the residual power, growing significantly larger than before—ten meters tall. It was clear the entire spiritual array was aiding his spirit’s rapid return from space.
Just as this spirit was about to take shape and become a fighting force before Wu Yun, he pointed his finger strangely. Through the mottled light of the Glazed Cauldron, the spirit suddenly dissolved into a cloud of mist and vanished.
This baffled the artifact spirit, as a fourth-grade immortal artifact should block such an attack unless wielded by an Immortal King.
Watching Wu Yun approach the mottled light, about to use his usual tactic of setting the artifact aflame, the artifact spirit hurriedly warned, “Sir, he is the son of the Immortal King of Wenjian. Surely you wouldn’t dare provoke the Immortal King?”
“Although the Immortal King of Wenjian is away training, if he returns, are you confident you can—?”
The tone was half-question, half-doubt. Wu Yun smiled faintly and replied, “I’m certain I’m no match for the Immortal King. Such a lofty being could kill me with a single finger. But he’s not here. He can’t stop me.”
Wu Yun tried to gather fire with his finger, but the intense heat quickly stopped him, forcing him to use his head instead. Just as he was about to touch the Glazed Cauldron, it spun faster, and eight ancient beasts resembling tigers emerged with fierce roars.
Each ancient beast was over a thousand meters tall, then condensed to hundreds of meters, filling the entire space.
“The Glazed Cauldron of Eight Treasures Demon Kings!” the artifact spirit exclaimed. This cauldron was a replica of Wenjian’s life-bound artifact, but its power reached the ranks of a high-level fourth-grade immortal artifact, making it an excellent defense treasure.
The eight ancient beasts revealed their powers upon transformation: some spat purple-black flames, others unleashed golden sand lightning, some emitted soul-shattering shadows, and others sprayed torrents of water.
The remaining four formed a formation extending thousands of miles, fixing the four spatial corners, surrounding Wu Yun completely with six spiritual mirrors that severed space and cut through time, leaving no escape.
If the Overwhelming Treasure Jar were still present, Wu Yun might have resisted, and if he wielded the Fear-Hate Immortal Sword, he wouldn’t be so sluggish. In desperation, he glanced at the short-horned black horse, still munching spider silk, its belly swollen to the limit.
However, this time Wu Yun miscalculated. Even lifting the black horse, the imagined imperial aura did not manifest to disperse the defenses before him.

Crack!
Rustle!
Boom!
All attacks were intercepted above Wu Yun’s head by a sprout of flame that stood firm. The fire’s temperature surged to over a million degrees, blurring the space above.
Combined with the blasts from the four ancient beasts, sizzling and explosive sounds formed a mushroom cloud above Wu Yun’s head. The shockwave spread outward, and everything fell silent.
Even the artifact spirit, who had been watching, was scattered and silently observed from its true form. Wu Yun and Jia Youke rolled hundreds of times before finally regaining their footing.
“Sir, shall we leave? Let it be?” Jia Youke, battered and bleeding immortal blood that instantly turned to immortal energy in the heat, proposed.
Wu Yun was even more disheveled. Above his head formed a bald circle, smooth and hairless—an odd and indescribable sight.
“Hah! If I can’t even save one woman, I might as well go back to the sky and become a cloud!” Wu Yun snapped, making several hand seals to communicate with heaven and earth, then faced the unyielding Glazed Cauldron again.
This time, the eight giant beasts disappeared, replaced by six primordial fierce birds. These birds had razor-sharp wings, each feather a low-grade ninth-grade immortal artifact. When Wu Yun approached to activate them, the six birds flew out, transforming into ancient mutated Sky-Supporting Birds.
These six bird beasts possessed extraordinary power. One swallowed the black horse Wu Yun had thrown. Just as it was about to devour Jia Youke, who was hiding behind Wu Yun, the bird that had swallowed the black horse exploded violently, scattering numerous feathers—each a ninth-grade immortal artifact—across the ground.
Jia Youke risked being swallowed to snatch a feather that resembled a sword but had no hilt. Feeling relieved, he was quickly kicked aside by Wu Yun. Then, the artifacts exploded, dealing devastating damage.
Once Jia Youke was injured, Wu Yun moved faster, tossing the black horse back into the air. As he unleashed the sixth explosion, Wu Yun shouted, “Heaven has no soul! Come forth and form! Return, soul!”
With a hand seal, the black horse’s eyes became spirited, and a voice came forth: “I see the bones, within your chest. Return them to me!”
“Return what? Didn’t you forget I’m keeping them for you!” Wu Yun cursed. The beast struggled to recall, absorbed the sixth Sky-Supporting Bird into its body, then muttered, “Hurry and wake me up. This feels like a nightmare—unbearable, unbearable.”
The black horse fell asleep again, its belly swollen and round as a ball.
Wu Yun knew he must no longer target it, or this reincarnate body would be lost.
Facing the Glazed Cauldron again, now empty, Wu Yun hesitated.
Jia Youke pitied him and tried to offer advice, but Wu Yun said, “Wait, let me consider how to break the Immortal King’s mighty strike!”
“Immortal King’s strike?”
Gazing at the smooth Glazed Cauldron, Wu Yun had thought the defenses were exhausted. Unexpectedly, it still concealed a deadly weapon, a killing move—the Immortal King Strike!
To store an Immortal King’s formation or attack, one must inscribe Immortal talismans. But materials capable of withstanding the Immortal King’s power are exceedingly rare.

After a long moment, Wu Yun stretched out his hand, producing a steel plate. Jia Youke swallowed hard and guessed, “Sir, where did you find this coffin lid?”
It was the last remnant of the Jade Seal Coffin, coated with the Ten Flavors True Fire, preventing heat from dissipating and stored within spatial space. When extracted, the Ten Flavors True Fire flared, leaving traces of expansion.
Before Wu Yun could act, the vanished artifact spirit suddenly appeared, kneeling before him in anguish: “Sir, have mercy. You must know this is all property of the Immortal King of Wenjian. But I’m an outlander, imprisoned here. See? If I help you escape, the battle outside will be the same!”
Wu Yun ignored him. With the Ten Flavors True Fire unleashed, the space trembled. He stood the coffin lid before the fire to roast it, slowly pushing it forward.
When the coffin lid neared the Glazed Cauldron, the intense heat accelerated the cauldron’s rotation. It spun faster, opening spatial fissures to release the heat. But Wu Yun suddenly withdrew the coffin lid, allowing the Ten Flavors True Fire to fully manifest.
The Glazed Cauldron instantly unleashed a powerful strike at the fire.
The Immortal King’s attack was extraordinary, the violent recoil pounding the board Wu Yun held upright. Soon, a defensive formation appeared on the board, effortlessly blocking the residual force of the Immortal King’s strike.
When Wu Yun and Jia Youke reappeared, the scene resembled a calamity of tribulation. A hundred-meter-wide hole gaped before the Glazed Cauldron, one side scorched and torn like a paper lantern burned by flame, scarred deeply.
At the center, the protected Tai Feng’s face was blackened, hair charred and gone, body fused with his immortal armor and skin, nearly burned to the bone marrow.
Despite such grievous injuries, Tai Feng remained unconscious, eyes wide and unblinking.
Wu Yun approached without striking, imprinting a few hand seals into him, then communed with heaven and earth. The ten heavens hidden beneath released their restrictions, allowing Tai Feng’s vast spirit to return to his body.
It was not that Tai Feng delayed his return—when he came back, clouds and smoke rose above Baihua Valley, a grand formation appeared, and he couldn’t find the way home.
When he opened his eyes to the dire state of things and saw his burnt armor and treasure cauldron, fury blazed within him. As he was about to speak, Wu Yun slapped him hard from above to below, scolding, “Hurry and get your father back to ransom you, or I’ll represent the Elegant Immortal Sect and tear up your ticket!”
Tai Feng was dumbfounded, confused by the words ‘ransom,’ ‘tear up the ticket,’ and ‘Elegant Immortal Sect.’
Still dazed, he was kicked again by Wu Yun, realizing all his immortal power was sealed, leaving him powerless.
Satisfied, Wu Yun activated the unclosed formation, releasing his and Jia Youke’s spirits, letting them soar through heaven and earth.
The essence of the spiritual array was to amplify one’s spirit tenfold or more, providing unparalleled sensation.
Jia Youke swam like a fish, bypassing all obstacles, reaching the soil layer of the sky, traversing every river and mountain without hindrance, even daring to challenge the unreachable fierce qi of the high skies.
Excited, Jia Youke followed as Wu Yun’s spirit, sharp as an arrow, pointed toward a distant place. Guided by a white misty line, they soon arrived at a cave dwelling on the northern outskirts of Baihua Valley, in the eastern ocean valley.
This cave dwelling lay at the junction of ocean and mountain, extending thirty thousand zhang underground. Without the spirit array’s guiding white line, who could find such a dilapidated cave in the vast starry world?
Upon entering, Jia Youke’s anger flared. He saw three spirits entangled in endless struggle—Jueli, Bing Heng, and Pan Fei.
