“The fact that Ning Chu’s divorce must never be revealed to anyone else—if it gets out…” The two exchanged a glance. If the news leaked, the Ning family’s shares would surely plummet.

The reason Ning Corporation stands strong today is entirely due to the support of the Tantai family. But now that Ning Chu has divorced Tantai Chao, they’re no longer connected; the Tantai family would no longer pay any attention to the Ning family.

“Find out exactly where Ning Chu is. Bring her back, no matter what!”

At this moment, Ning Chu was lying on a large hotel bed, sleeping soundly—better than she ever had before.

She had been away for about half a month, completely unaware that Zhou Erqin and Ning Xingxian back home were going nearly mad trying to find her!

Zhang Yan had sent Ning Chu a message saying her parents had come looking for her, but Ning Chu glanced at it and ignored it. Right now, she was in a good mood and didn’t want to think about such unpleasant matters or people. She would deal with it when she returned.

When Ning Chu finally came back to Lakeside Deer, Zhou Erqin and Ning Xingxian immediately found out and rushed over.

Zhang Yan had arranged everything in Lakeside Deer—two housekeepers, one called Aunt An and the other Aunt Zhou; cleaners came about once a week; a driver named Uncle Lin was also assigned; and all of Ning Chu’s belongings had been sorted out.

Just as Ning Chu was about to eat a meal prepared by the newly arrived housekeeper, Zhou Erqin and Ning Xingxian arrived.

The doorbell kept ringing; Aunt An went to open it but was pushed aside before she could say a word, nearly falling over.

The two barged straight in. Ning Chu watched from the side, her eyes growing cold. “Father, mother, what happened to your manners?”

Zhou Erqin quickly strode toward Ning Chu, raising her hand to slap her, but Ning Chu caught it. “I do not welcome parents who lack basic courtesy.”

Zhou Erqin snapped, “Ning Chu, you’re completely defying reason! Who told you to get divorced? Do you know how much damage this divorce will cause Ning Corporation? Are you an idiot? What are you thinking? Ning Chu, kneel down right now!”

Ning Xingxian said, “Chu Chu, who exactly is behind this divorce? Go tell your husband you don’t want this divorce and reconcile immediately—while no one else knows.”

Ning Chu stood up and released Zhou Erqin’s hand. “No! I won’t kneel, and I won’t remarry Tantai Chao. He probably wouldn’t want to either. If you two came here to say that, then just leave.”

“Oh, you remind me,” Ning Chu suddenly smiled. “No one knows yet, right? I’ll post on social media—then everyone will know.”

Ning Chu grabbed her phone. “You dare!” Zhou Erqin and Ning Xingxian immediately lunged to snatch it, but Ning Chu kept them at bay and ran to the other side of the dining table.

They chased after her, while Aunt An and Aunt Zhou stood aside uncertainly. These two seemed to be the employers’ parents; they didn’t feel it was their place to intervene.

Ning Chu quickly typed a few words on her social media: “Divorced.”

Then she sent it and switched off her phone!

At that moment, Zhou Erqin and Ning Xingxian finally caught Ning Chu and took her phone, but it was locked with a password!

They exchanged a glance, unlocked their own phones, and immediately saw Ning Chu’s post: “Divorced!”

“Ahhh! Delete it! Ning Chu! Delete it right now!”

“What’s the password? Tell me!”

“Ning Chu, tell me!” Ning Xingxian snapped furiously, grabbing Ning Chu’s neck and squeezing until her face flushed red. “How dare you! Tell me the password now!”

Meanwhile, Aunt An and Aunt Zhou, seeing their employer in such a state, feared a tragedy was about to unfold and quickly tried to pull Ning Xingxian away.

“What are you doing?”

“Let go of Miss Su! Miss Ning is suffocating!”

After a struggle, Ning Chu finally freed herself from Ning Xingxian’s grip, rubbing her neck and gasping for air. Zhou Erqin suddenly stepped forward and slapped Ning Chu across the face with a sharp “smack.”

“Ning Chu! You’ve gone mad!”

Ning Chu’s face instantly reddened, a clear handprint left behind. Touching her cheek, she suddenly laughed.

“I should never have held any hope for you! You’ve truly disappointed me!”

Her divorce was not about whether she had suffered or why; no one cared to comfort her. Their only thoughts were about profit and loss.

Indeed, profit was the most important thing to them. As for their daughter? She was merely a tool to generate benefits.

Ning Chu suddenly straightened, and with a sharp slap, struck Zhou Erqin’s face. Zhou Erqin was stunned, as was Ning Xingxian. They never expected Ning Chu to be so bold.

“Ning Chu! How dare you hit me? I am your mother! What about your manners? Your upbringing?” Zhou Erqin clutched her face, eyes wide in disbelief.

Ning Chu’s expression was icy cold. “My manners and upbringing have long been eaten by dogs! This is my domain—both of you get out!”

Ning Xingxian’s hand trembled with fury as he pointed at Ning Chu. “This is outrageous! You must be possessed! How dare you—how dare you! You’re trying to kill me and your mother with anger!”

Ning Chu bared her teeth in a grin. “Yes, I want to anger you! Because you’re simply not worthy to be parents!”

No parent would make their daughter kneel for an hour just for coming in second place on a test, forbid her from eating all day, and lock her in a dark room.

No parent would strictly control their daughter’s friendships, diet, manners, and life to such an extent that any deviation from expectations resulted in punishment—sometimes withholding food and water, and in severe cases, beating her with bamboo rods.

After awakening, Ning Chu sometimes wondered if she was really their daughter. But indeed, she was.

“From now on, I will never listen to you again. If you want to marry off to Tantai Chao so badly, go ahead yourselves. Now get out of my home! This is my home!”

Ning Xingxian said, “Everything you have has been provided by us. And now you tell us to get out! Your success is our doing! We raised you with our money.”

Ning Chu replied, “Grandfather’s will stated I should have ten percent of Ning Corporation’s shares. Later, you coaxed me into giving those shares to you, and I agreed. Then, because I was to marry Tantai Chao, you only gave me five percent, since the Tantai family offered five percent as a bride price. That’s why you used five percent of Ning shares as my dowry.”

“You say everything I have is from you, but I’ve already returned the remaining five percent of Ning shares to you. I was only five years old when Grandfather passed away. Almost twenty years have gone by. The dividends from those twenty years should be enough to support me, right?”

“And the one who has taken care of me the most is the nanny, not you two. Don’t take credit for everything.”
