Chapter 60: The Misty Mountain Villa
The young man who boasted that he would buy the most expensive villa in all of Rong City actually needed a taxi to go view the property? Shen Yan couldn't help but burst out laughing. "Then you'd better hurry. Should I reimburse your cab fare for you?"
"No need. Let's meet at the main gate of Misty Mountain Villa."
Yan Yu walked out of the villa and hailed a taxi, helping Xia Liu and Zhou Xiaowan load their luggage into the trunk.
Once inside the car, Xia Liu remained anxious. "Xiao Yu, maybe we shouldn't go to Misty Mountain Villa after all..."
Yan Yu smiled gently. "Aunt Liu, we can't let bad people have their way, can we? And you've always been so kind to me. What does a Misty Mountain Villa matter compared to that?"
"But..." Xia Liu hesitated, wanting to say more. She felt Yan Yu was just making empty promises, yet for some reason, she couldn't help but hope for a miracle.
"No buts. Don't worry." Yan Yu smiled and gave the driver their destination, then took out his phone and dialed Fifth Mother.
"Xiao Yu, why are you calling Fifth Mother all of a sudden? Are you short on money? Just give me your account number, I'll transfer you half a billion for pocket change!" Fifth Mother's gentle voice came through the phone.
Yan Yu cleared his throat and said quietly, "Fifth Mother, about that Misty Mountain Villa you mentioned last time..."
"Finally, you've come around!" Fifth Mother laughed. "I told you, since you're living out there on your own, you need to eat well, dress well, and live well too. I'll arrange for someone to buy Misty Mountain Villa right away. When will you move in?"
"Well... Fifth Mother, it's not for me..." Yan Yu replied awkwardly.
"I know, I know, you're just afraid Big Mother will scold you. Don't worry, I won't say a word to her."
Yan Yu forced a smile and briefly explained Xia Liu's situation. To his surprise, the usually gentle Fifth Mother began cursing furiously:
"I knew it! All men are jerks! That Zhou Lide is utterly shameless! Don't worry, Xiao Yu. Leave Misty Mountain Villa to me. When the time comes, help me slap Zhou Lide and that wretched woman's faces good and hard!"
"Thank you, Fifth Mother." Yan Yu replied with a smile.
Fifth Mother laughed. "By the way, I heard your master, that old rascal, has come to Rong City too. Have you heard from him?"
"My master is here too?" Yan Yu was taken aback. "He hasn't contacted me!"
"As if he ever would!" Fifth Mother snorted. "If you get some free time, check out the bathhouses around town. You might just run into him."
"Alright... I'll look for him once I've finished things here."
"Don't pick up his bad habits again, you hear? That's enough from me. I'll have people buy Misty Mountain Villa right away!" Fifth Mother hung up decisively.
Yan Yu put away his phone, feeling a surge of excitement. He hadn't expected his master to be in Rong City as well. If his master decided to help, people like Feng Liang would be of no consequence.
But his master was like a dragon: always elusive, coming and going as he pleased. It was always the master who found the disciple, never the other way around.
Misty Mountain Villa was ten kilometers from the city center, perched atop Misty Mountain in the north of the city—a place renowned as Rong City's blessed land. The mountain was shrouded in mist all year round, resembling a fairyland.
Last year, when Misty Mountain Villa first came to market, Shen Real Estate's advertisements proclaimed it a "paradise on earth, a residence for immortals." But its astronomical price tag of eighty million and unique status deterred even the wealthiest buyers, and to this day, it remained unsold.
Half an hour later, their car reached Misty Mountain. It was afternoon; the sun shone brightly, bathing the slopes in warm light and lifting the spirits.
Getting out of the car, Yan Yu finally saw the legendary Misty Mountain Villa.
The villa was built atop the mountain, occupying over two thousand square meters. Below were three separate underground garages, while the vast courtyard boasted a hot spring pool and a basketball court. The landscaped gardens featured fountains, rockeries, and more. The three-story mansion had more than a dozen rooms, and its balconies offered a sweeping view over all of Rong City—a true sense of standing above the world.
At the entrance stood two dedicated security guards, both retired soldiers, their posture straight as arrows. When they saw Shen Yan and her group approach, they saluted and greeted them.
"It's so big..." Zhou Xiaowan got out of the car, looking around in astonishment.
"Don't be envious," Yan Yu said with a smile. "After today, you and Aunt Liu will live here. Let Zhou Lide and that woman die of jealousy!"
"Boasting like that, aren't you afraid you'll bite your own tongue?"
Shen Yan, arm in arm with Zhou Lide, strode arrogantly up to Yan Yu, a string of keys in her hand. "I shouldn't be wasting my time on the likes of you," she sneered, "but I'll let you see Misty Mountain Villa so you'll give up your foolish dreams. Come inside."
Yan Yu took Zhou Xiaowan and Xia Liu by the hand and led them through the spacious courtyard into the villa itself. Even he was awed by the sheer luxury within.
"Misty Mountain Villa was designed by over a dozen renowned French architects. Even the tiles in the bathrooms are imported from Germany. All the furniture was airlifted from America, the appliances are from Japan, the doors and windows from Korea, and even the evergreens in the garden were specially transported from Xishuangbanna," Shen Yan recited as she guided them. "And that's not all—masters of feng shui were consulted to ensure prosperity and longevity for the residents. Even the air here is more precious than gold elsewhere!"
Yan Yu surveyed the villa and found that, as Shen Yan said, nothing here was ordinary. Eighty million was just the listed price; its true value was far beyond that.
The more imposing Misty Mountain Villa appeared, the smaller Xia Liu and Zhou Xiaowan seemed by comparison. Shen Yan sneered, "Misty Mountain Villa is the number one villa in Rong City. Whoever buys it is essentially declaring themselves the city's richest person. That's why it's become a hot potato—no tycoon dares to make the purchase openly, even if they can afford it!
"The funniest thing is, some nobodies actually brag about buying Misty Mountain Villa. They don't know their own limitations!"
Yan Yu paid no mind to her mockery. He turned to Zhou Xiaowan and asked, "Xiaowan, are you satisfied with Misty Mountain Villa? Is there anything you don't like?"
Zhou Xiaowan thought for a moment. "I don't like those paintings in the living room. They look too old-fashioned."
"Alright."
Yan Yu nodded, walked straight into the living room, took the paintings off the wall, and tossed them out the window.
"What are you doing?!" Shen Yan's expression changed dramatically. "Those are custom works by world-class artists—each one is worth tens of thousands!"
Yan Yu replied coolly, "This is my house. What I do with it is none of your business."
