Summary + Reflections + Bonus Chapter Rules

Reborn: Catching the Cold-Hearted School Beauty Shoplifting at the Start Lu Yuanqiu 1317 words 2026-04-10 09:46:01

This book was first released on QQ Reading, and since the 17th, it has been promoted via short videos, after which it took off uncontrollably.

It’s been a huge hit.

In just twelve days, it ranked first on the QQ Reading membership chart, the bestseller list, the new releases chart, the “hearts” ranking, and entered the top ten of the monthly ticket list. On Qidian, the average number of subscriptions soared from a few dozen to nearly ten thousand in just over ten days.

Honestly, the most thrilling moment was the very first day it exploded in popularity. I’ve written successful works before, so once I got used to that feeling again, I entered a sort of calm, reflective phase.

But my earlier works were fanfiction... Due to certain factors this year, I realized it was time to transform and start writing original stories. I do think I’m quite lucky; this transition hasn’t cost me much in terms of trial and error.

Before explaining the rules for bonus chapters, let me address a few things.

First, a few days ago, I faced a storm of criticism for ending chapters abruptly—what you might call cliffhangers—which left me feeling mentally exhausted after reading all those comments.

Let me say this: cliffhangers are a necessary skill for every author, but they also reflect a lack of confidence in one’s story and characters. If I were confident enough that you’d keep reading daily even without cliffhangers, I wouldn’t use them at all. That’s on me. I recently saw a reader’s comment saying that minor plot threads can be stretched out, but major plot points should be delivered in one go. I think that’s absolutely right. So, I apologize—I shouldn’t have used cliffhangers at critical moments in the story.

Having a hit with an original novel has opened my eyes to the malice of some readers. Even as I write this, the author groups are incessantly tagging me and hurling insults.

There’s so much hostility—people demanding more chapters, cursing the author, doxxing, leaking my real name and phone number... all just because my updates are too sparse or, as some say, filled with filler.

But I swear there’s no filler; this is just how I write everyday life. I can’t even imagine what would happen to me if I ever wrote something truly controversial.

Second point.

As I mentioned in a previous notice, after reaching 200,000 words, I promised to add bonus chapters. But if you look back, you’ll see that during that period I was already updating two chapters a day as standard. Now, with three chapters a day, I’ve already increased the output (Qidian readers can check the dates for confirmation).

To avoid complaints later about not adding bonus chapters after 200,000 words, I’m clarifying this in advance.

Third point.

Some accuse me of splitting one chapter into three. My standard has always been 2,000 words per chapter—never changed. The platform’s minimum is 2,000 words, and that’s exactly what I write.

And finally, the bonus chapter rules (effective from December 1):

First, monthly ticket bonuses.

For every 500 additional monthly tickets on QQ Reading, there will be one bonus chapter; same for Qidian, one bonus chapter for every 500 tickets. In other words, if both platforms increase by 500 tickets each, that’s two bonus chapters.

Second, reward-based bonuses.

Only rewards at the “League Leader” level and above count—10,000 Reading Coins or 10,000 Qidian Coins. One League Leader equals one bonus chapter, and so on: Silver League, ten chapters; Gold League, one hundred chapters. Consider this optional reading; I’m just stating it to avoid questions. The threshold is high because my typing speed is slow. Some wealthy readers could easily throw in a few hundred, but I really can’t keep up with more bonuses.

Third, the bonus chapter cap.

I guarantee a minimum of three chapters daily, with a maximum of four per day. Any chapter beyond that fourth one counts as a bonus. I’ll keep track of how many bonus chapters I owe, and if there’s any backlog, I’ll pay it off gradually, at a rate of one extra chapter a day.

And finally, to wrap things up.

There is only one female lead, a perfect ending, no tragedy, and it is incredibly sweet.

One last note:

I’ve decided to dissolve the reader group. I’ll continue writing quietly on my own.
