Chapter Six: Stockpiling Weapons!

The onlookers around continued to point and murmur about the strange scene, completely unaware that danger was looming. Some even began live streaming, with the headline boldly stating, “Man convulsing on the street, suspected epileptic seizure.”
Jiang Qiyu watched this unfold, a chill rising in her heart. In the last life, just hours after the zombie virus appeared, the entire city fell. Shop windows were smashed, goods scattered across the floor, which was stained with blood and severed limbs. Fleeing crowds shoved and trampled each other, their cries and pleas for help echoing into the sky. Those trapped inside stores desperately pounded on glass doors, watching helplessly as zombies closed in, ultimately being torn to pieces.
She had to get out of here as soon as possible.
Jiang Qiyu quickened her pace, swiftly moving away from the crowd.
She only had 79,800 yuan left in her card. Gritting her teeth, she stepped into a luxury cosmetics store she normally wouldn’t dare enter, and spent all her money at once, buying a pile of skincare products and makeup she usually couldn’t bring herself to use. After all, items in her space wouldn’t expire, and in the apocalypse, these “luxuries” would be far more practical than gold or jewels.
Jiang Qiyu recalled how, in her previous life, she scrimped and saved to provide a better life for her parents, always transferring any leftover money in her bank card to their accounts, unable to bear buying even an 800-yuan coat. Now, with international trendy brands like Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, and La Mer, Jiang Qiyu casually added everything to her shopping cart, swiping over seventy thousand yuan in one go.
At first, the sales clerk took one look at her plain clothes, simple makeup, and canvas bag, responding with indifference while staring at her phone. But when Jiang Qiyu pulled out stacks of cash and said she wanted all the limited edition sets on display and every sunscreen and primer in the store, the clerk’s attitude changed instantly.
Suddenly warm and welcoming, the clerk’s smile stretched wide as if she wanted to worship Jiang Qiyu’s ancestors. Eagerly, she brought chairs, poured water, and enthusiastically recommended new and limited edition products, even offering samples and gifts.
Jiang Qiyu accepted everything without hesitation—SK-II’s miracle essence, classic wintersweet cream, Clé de Peau’s primers, Chanel’s limited edition lipsticks, perfumes, foundations, as well as a vast array of sunscreens, whitening serums, body lotions, hand creams, eye creams, and makeup removers.
In short, she bought anything she could use. Since the items in her space wouldn’t expire, these “luxuries” would be far more useful than gold or jewels in the apocalypse. When the time came, she could use whatever she wanted without having to scrimp and suffer.
After leaving the mall, dark clouds rolled overhead and the sky grew ominously gloomy. Although the street lamps shone brightly, they couldn’t dispel the damp, decaying stench in the air, nor the nauseating scent of blood, accompanied by several piercing screams. Jiang Qiyu dared not linger. She hopped onto her little electric scooter and sped toward the seaside villa district.
Passing the docks, Jiang Qiyu hesitated.
In her previous life, she had followed the main group fleeing and never paid attention to the docks.
But this time, reborn, she vaguely remembered that a cargo ship docked there supposedly stored large amounts of supplies.
If she could get her hands on those supplies, her chances of survival in the early apocalypse would greatly improve.
With that thought, Jiang Qiyu steeled herself, parking her scooter in a concealed corner. She crouched low and cautiously moved deeper into the docks, staying within the shadows of the shipping containers.

She deliberately avoided the lights, making as little noise as possible. The dock’s terrain was complex—stacks of containers piled high, crisscrossing pipes, and abandoned vehicles provided natural cover. Jiang Qiyu used these to skillfully evade any potential dangers, moving with the agility of a nimble cat.
The cargo ship was huge, even larger than she had imagined.
The deck was deserted except for a few seagulls soaring overhead, their cries piercing the air.
Jiang Qiyu proceeded along the corridor and spotted numerous containers. Peering through the gaps, she glimpsed all kinds of cargo inside.
At the corridor’s end was a café, stocked with various drinks, snacks, and bread, even several coffee machines.
Unfortunately, her space was limited, so she could only take a portion.
Continuing forward, Jiang Qiyu found a warehouse filled to the brim with all sorts of daily necessities—towels, blankets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and more.
“This is way too well-stocked!” she murmured.
Just as she prepared to leave, she noticed a special mark on the cargo ship’s basement level—an unmistakable military insignia.
“Could this be a military supply ship?” Jiang Qiyu wondered, hurrying downstairs.
The basement level was a treasure trove, stocked with vast amounts of military supplies including medicines, clothing, tools, and even a cache of firearms and ammunition!
There were handguns, rifles, submachine guns, sniper rifles, as well as heavy weapons like rocket launchers and grenade launchers, plus abundant bullets and grenades.
Beneath those lay other valuable items: night vision goggles, gas masks, military knives, binoculars—all rare and precious resources in the future, highly sought after and quickly used up.
Medicines included various anti-inflammatory drugs, painkillers, antibiotics, bandages, gauze, iodine, alcohol, Yunnan Baiyao, and herbal tonics, enough to last her a long time.
With these supplies, she wouldn’t fear the apocalypse anymore!
Satisfied, Jiang Qiyu left the cargo ship, mounted her scooter, and prepared to head home.

However, the moment she stepped off the ship, a figure suddenly lunged out from behind a container, attacking her.
Jiang Qiyu reacted swiftly, raising the electric baton she had just scavenged and striking the figure back several steps.
In the dim light, she made out the grotesque silhouette—a zombie.
Rotting and reeking, it snarled and clawed at her.
Startled, Jiang Qiyu slammed on the brakes, nearly colliding with the creature.
“Damn! When did this thing sneak up on me?” she cursed under her breath.
Switching to a higher-voltage stun baton, she delivered a fierce blow to the zombie’s head.
“Bang!”
A dull thud echoed as the zombie’s skull was smashed to pieces, spraying filthy blood everywhere.
Disgusted, Jiang Qiyu shook the blood off her baton, about to leave, when she suddenly heard a rustling noise. The stench of decay filled her nostrils, so intense it made her nauseous. The air thickened with a suffocating putrid odor, the temperature dropping sharply. A chilling wind carried eerie, mournful wails.
She turned sharply and realized that, without her noticing, a large group of zombies had gathered on the dock, slowly closing in on her.
“Shit! Now I’m really in trouble!”
