On Mount North Yellow, beside a stream,

Bodies lay strewn across the ground in every direction, piled upon one another. Bright red blood had gathered in countless little pools across the uneven earth, reflecting the strangely eerie moon.

Li Chenqiu sat languidly beneath an old locust tree, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the blood pool beside him, producing a soft, steady patter. Drops of blood slid slowly down from his fingertips.

“At last, you’ve come.”

His gaze darkened. He slowly closed his eyes and sat utterly still, like a corpse.

Just then, a disorderly rush of footsteps came from afar. More than fifty Revivers arrived nearby. Feng Qian, the young woman at their head, raised an arm and halted the others.

“Stop! No one goes any closer!” she shouted in alarm.

When the beams of their flashlights reached the streambank, a chill shot up from the soles of everyone’s feet and rushed straight to the crown of their heads. Fear spread through them as swiftly as an epidemic.

“They’re… all dead?”

“How could this happen? How could it? My brother, my brother!”

One man’s face went deathly pale. His bloodshot eyes locked onto a corpse beside the stream, and his feet carried him forward despite himself.

The man beside him seized his arm and pointed at the bodies scattered along the bank.

“Are you insane? Can’t you see how many people have died over there?”

“My brother…”

“Shut up and wait for Brother Xu!” Feng Qian snapped impatiently. “Anyone who wants to throw his life away can go right ahead. I won’t stop him!”

Her shout gradually calmed those whose emotions had begun to spiral. They warily surveyed their surroundings, waiting for Xu Yuan to arrive.

Feng Qian stared gravely at the bodies by the stream, her breathing quickening despite herself.

More than fifty Revivers—including Zhang Tong, a top-tier Three-Ban—had died without a sound. They had not even managed to escape. Had the New World done this, or was it Li Chenqiu?

Beneath the old locust tree, Li Chenqiu raised an eyebrow, opened his eyes, and looked in the direction of Feng Qian and the others.

He had thought they would rush over in panic. It seemed he had underestimated their caution.

“If an ambush won’t work, then I’ll just kill them.”

A faint scarlet glimmer flashed through Li Chenqiu’s eyes. Using the old locust tree for support, he slowly rose to his feet.

The distance between the two groups was not great, and Feng Qian’s party naturally heard the movement on his side.

“Sister Feng, there seems to be someone over there,” someone said warily.

Feng Qian took several steps backward and ordered, “Shine your flashlights over there!”

In an instant, countless white beams converged on Li Chenqiu, exposing his figure clearly before everyone.

“Xue Dayong?”

“Sister Feng, that’s Xue Dayong, Brother Xu’s lackey!” said a sharp-featured man.

“Why would he be here? Isn’t this Zhang Tong’s team?” Feng Qian muttered to herself. Then she raised her voice and shouted toward Li Chenqiu, “Xue Dayong, come over here!”

“All right.”

Li Chenqiu answered calmly and strode toward them. He soon stopped ten meters away. Just as he was about to come closer, Feng Qian reached out and blocked him.

She scrutinized him from head to toe, a trace of suspicion flickering in her eyes.

“Tell me. What happened here earlier? Why are you the only one who survived? How did they die?”

Li Chenqiu pressed his lips into a smile. Without saying a word, he stepped toward Feng Qian.

“You… What are you doing?” Feng Qian retreated step by step.

“I’m going to… kill you all.”

Li Chenqiu’s figure blurred. His terrifying speed swept the fallen leaves aside. The fine hair above Feng Qian’s brow had only just begun to stir when Li Chenqiu’s cold face appeared before her, a fist following like her shadow.

Just as his fist was about to smash into Feng Qian, she suddenly opened her mouth.

“Shift!”

Boom!

The sound of a skull shattering rang across the scene. Yet the one who died was not Feng Qian, but a male Reviver.

Li Chenqiu withdrew his fist and turned toward Feng Qian, who stood several meters away, still shaken to the core.

The sudden turn of events stunned the Revivers present. All of them retreated helplessly.

“Xue Dayong, what… what are you doing?” someone asked, summoning his courage.

Before Li Chenqiu could speak, Feng Qian cut in.

“He isn’t Xue Dayong. Prepare for battle!”

As she spoke, the space around her seemed to twist. In the next instant, a fist struck toward the back of Li Chenqiu’s head.

Li Chenqiu drove his strength through his waist, shifting his entire upper body to one side. The strands of hair at his forehead brushed past Feng Qian’s fist.

“That ability of yours is rather interesting. You can exchange positions with someone else. I nearly fell for it,” Li Chenqiu said, his face showing lingering alarm, though not the slightest trace of panic.

If his opponent possessed a long-range or large-area destructive ability, Li Chenqiu would have found her troublesome. But in close combat, he felt no pressure whatsoever.

Although the two were not far apart in strength or speed, their control over their bodies and their distribution of power were worlds apart.

“I hope you can stay this relaxed!”

Feng Qian let out a cold laugh. Her fists came at Li Chenqiu in an unbroken succession, like waves upon the sea. At that moment, Li Chenqiu was like a ship tossed upon those waves—rocking perilously, yet always managing to survive against the odds and find a way out.

“What impressive boxing. One move flowing into the next—truly a pleasure to watch,” Li Chenqiu praised.

But to Feng Qian, his words were nothing short of naked mockery.

“What are you all standing around for? Attack together!” Feng Qian shouted.

At last, she understood how Zhang Tong and the others had been annihilated. The man before her possessed a disguise ability. He must have first ambushed and killed Zhang Tong, then effortlessly slaughtered everyone else.

As for his identity, Feng Qian had already grasped it clearly. Who else but the New World would have any reason to do such a thing?

“Hmph. Now that I’ve seen through your disguise, let’s see how long you can keep pretending to be so calm,” Feng Qian thought.

Her attacks grew faster and faster. Relying on her ability, she repeatedly charged at Li Chenqiu from bizarre angles.

This place was not as cramped as the hotel corridor. With more than fifty people surrounding him, along with Feng Qian’s occasional treacherous strikes, even though Li Chenqiu possessed absolute control over his body, he still suffered numerous injuries. Yet to a Reviver, wounds of this degree were hardly worth mentioning.

Wind blades, earthen spikes, scorching flames…

One flashy ability after another pierced Li Chenqiu’s thighs, arms, chest, and more.

Yet his face showed no trace of pain. There was only an almost frenzied exhilaration. He was utterly captivated by the sensation of leaving his enemies helpless and bewildered.

The searing pain stimulated Li Chenqiu’s brain again and again. Under such conditions, endorphins flooded rapidly through his entire nervous system, making his movements swifter and his observations more precise.

By contrast, the Revivers surrounding him grew more horrified and more desperate with every exchange.

“Damn it, does this guy have no sense of pain? Is he a robot?!”

“Never mind the fact that he doesn’t feel pain—why is he getting faster and faster? Is he drugged?”

“We can’t hit his brow at all! Is there a motor installed in this guy’s head?”

Just as Li Chenqiu gradually began to seize the upper hand, Feng Qian leaped into the air. Her hips twisted sharply, sending her lower leg whipping toward Li Chenqiu’s head like a long lash.

Li Chenqiu’s gaze sharpened. The instant he raised his arm to shield himself, Feng Qian parted her red lips.

“Shift!”
